George Purefoy-Jervoise
George Purefoy-Jervoise (10 April 1770 – 1 December 1847) was an English politician. He was the eldest son of Rev. George Hudleston Jervoise Purefoy Jervoise of Britford, Wiltshire. He was educated at Westminster School in 1781–1786 and Corpus Christi College, Oxford in 1787–91. He inherited the Herriard estate in Hampshire from his uncle Tristram Jervoise of Britford. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Salisbury, 17 February 1813 – 1818, and for Hampshire 1820–1826. He was appointed High Sheriff of Hampshire for 1830–1831. He married twice: firstly Elizabeth, the daughter and heiress of Thomas Hall of Preston Candover, Hampshire and secondly Anna Maria Selina, the daughter of Wadham Locke Wadham Locke (1779–1835) was an English banker and politician. Jervoise Clarke Jervoise (Yarmouth MP)
Jervoise Clarke Jervoise (''né'' Clarke; 27 April 1734 – 5 January 1808) was an English Whig Member of Parliament (MP) who sat in the House of Commons of Great Britain for most of the years from 1768 to 1808. Jervoise Clarke was the son of Samuel Clarke of Bloomsbury, London, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth. He was entered Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1751. At the 1768 general election he was returned as a member of parliament (MP) for Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, but was unseated on petition the following year. He was returned for Yarmouth at the 1774 general election, and in 1777 he took the additional surname Jervoise. He held the Yarmouth seat until he resigned in 1779 to stand at a by-election in Hampshire. Sir Jervoise Clarke-Jervoise, 2nd Baronet (28 April 1804 – 1 April 1889) was a British Liberal Party politician. Clarke Jervoise was the son of Rev. Samuel Clarke, who assumed the surname of Jervois in 1808 and was made a baronet in 1813. He was elected at the 1857 general election as a Member of Parliament (MP) for South Hampshire, and held the seat until he stood down from the House of Commons at the 1868 general election. In 1829, Clarke-Jervoise married Georgiana Thompson, the daughter of George Nesbit Thompson, Esquire, of Chapel Street, Grosvenor Place, London. The couple lived at Idsworth Park, Hampshire, England. Sir Jervoise Athelstane Baines (17 October 1847 – 26 November 1925) was an administrator in the Indian Civil Service during the period of the British Raj. Early life Baines was the son of Edward Baines, the vicar of Yalding in Kent, and his wife, Catherine Eularia Baines. He was born on 17 October 1847 in the village of Bluntisham in the former English county of Huntingdonshire. He was educated at Rugby School and at Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1868, he passed the competitive examination for entry into the Indian Civil Service, spent two years in training and was then posted to the Bombay Presidency. India Baines arrived in India in 1870, approximately halfway through the five-year-long attempt to collect statistical population data, which was the first such exercise by the Raj administration.
