The Jersey Girls or Jersey Widows refers to four American women who lost their husbands in the September 11 attacks. All four—Kristen Breitweiser, Patty Casazza, Lorie Van Auken, and Mindy Kleinberg—were residents of New Jersey, and helped lobby the U.S. government to carry out an investigation into the terrorist attacks, resulting in the formation of the 9/11 Commission and the subsequent report released by the Commission. Establishment of the 9/11 Commission Survivors and family members of the victims were the most vocal and persistent in the call for the creation of an independent commission to investigate the 9/11 attacks. The leaders of several 9/11 family groups began to work together to lobby political leaders. The Jersey Girls were part of the 9/11 Family Steering Committee, whose members were instrumental in the creation of the 9/11 Commission and in pressing the commission to oversee a thorough and credible investigation. ''Jersey Girl'' is a 1992 American romantic comedy drama film directed by David Burton Morris. Plot Jersey Girl is the story of Toby, a lower-class girl who's a preschool teacher from New Jersey who's tired of feeling like her life has no purpose and nothing interesting in it. While out to dinner with her friends, she decides she wants to change her fate. After talking to her friends about what the ideal man is like, she decides she's going to go find him. Toby travels to New York and walks into a Mercedes-Benz dealership in search of her 'Mr. Right'. She feels immediately uncomfortable and leaves. While trying to back out of the parking lot, she nearly hits a man (Sal) driving a brand new MB. He drives around her and leaves the parking lot, but she's smitten. "Jersey Girl" is a song composed and originally sung by American singer-songwriter Tom Waits from his 1980 album ''Heartattack and Vine''. Waits original Waits wrote the song for his future wife Kathleen Brennan, who had been living in New Jersey. Waits said in a 1980 interview that, "I never thought I would catch myself saying 'sha la la' in a song ... This is my first experiment with 'sha la la.'" Waits' recording includes drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and glockenspiel, in an arrangement that captures the feeling of the seashore by way of " Under the Boardwalk" or "Spanish Harlem".
