Jerry Styner
Jerry Howard Styner (born June 18, 1936) is an American songwriter, musician, and former record producer. He has written scores for or had his compositions featured in over 30 films. Some of the artists he has worked with include Chet Baker for his '' Blood, Chet and Tears'' album, Solomon Burke for his ''We're Almost Home'' album and many others. For several years he served as a staff minister at the Center for Spiritual Living in Palm Desert, California. He lives with his daughter in Guatemala. Career In the late 1950s or early 1960s, Styner went under the name of Rusty Howard and was in the music group called The Rhythm Rangers. Along with Lyricist Guy Hemric (1931-1993), they were a team that were very prolific in writing for films during the 1960s. Many of these films were the B-grade type, including the Beach Party films. Corky (film)
''Corky'' is a 1972 American drama film starring Robert Blake and directed by Leonard Horn. Plot Corky Curtiss is a Texas race-car mechanic obsessed with the sport. He is permitted to drive in local races on weekends, but boss Randy Dover replaces him with another driver because of his costly reckless ways. With little money to support wife Peggy Jo and two kids, Corky needs his job but can't control his resentment. He enters a race on a figure-eight track and deliberately causes a crash that sends replacement driver Steve to the hospital. A furious Randy fires Corky from his mechanic's job. Corky abandons his wife and heads for Georgia in his pink Plymouth Barracuda with a friend, Billy. Mike Curb Congregation
Michael Curb (born December 24, 1944) is an American musician, record company executive, motorsports car owner, philanthropist, and former politician. He is also the founder of Curb Records where he presently serves as the chairman. Curb also serves as Chairman of Word Entertainment. He is an inductee of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. A Republican, Curb served as the 42nd lieutenant governor of California from 1979 to 1983. Early life and education Curb was born in Savannah, Georgia to Charles McCloud Curb and Stella (Stout) Curb, and raised in Southern California's San Fernando Valley. He has one sister. Val Valentin
Luis Pastor "Val" Valentin (January 6, 1920 – March 24, 1999) was an American recording engineer with six decades of work in the music industry. Much of his work was done for MGM Records and Verve Records. His large discography includes Jazz albums such as ''Ella and Louis'', '' Night Train'', and ''Getz/Gilberto''. Career Valentin's earliest known engineering credits date from around 1951, when he was credited on records released by MGM. He was the Director of Engineering for MGM and Verve Records beginning in 1963 in New York City and in 1970 was instrumental in moving the MGM recording studios from NYC to Los Angeles. Larry Brown (musician)
Larry Brown (born 1947) is an American musician, composer and recording engineer. Background 1960s In the 1960s, he started out playing drums in various bands including surf music bands. During the late 1960s to the 1970s, he either provided or helped provide music for a number of exploitation films which include biker cult classics such as ''The Wild Angels'', ''The Glory Stompers'', ''The Angry Breed'' and ''Maryjane (film), Mary Jane''. In 1965, Brown was the drummer for Davie Allan who provided the music for many biker films in the 1960s, Larry wrote some of his earliest pieces of film music for Roger Corman's The Wild Angels. . Kenny Myers
Kenny Myers was an executive at Mercury Records during the 1960s. He later became general manager for a subsidiary of Dot Records. He also ran his own record label, Amaret Records. He left the music industry in the mid-1970s for the Regensteiner Printing Company. He is also a former musician. Musical background Before he joined Mercury Records, he was a trumpet player with the Eddy Howard Orchestra. He sang and played alongside fellow trumpeter, vocalist, Bob Capelli. From 1946 - 1947, he played alongside Capelli and Sid Commings. He was also part of a vocal trio that consisted of Eddy Howard and Norman Lee. When Myers left he was replaced on trumpet and vocals by Wally Fobart. It also appears that Myers may have recorded under his own name for Leo Records. Joe Porter (producer)
Joe Porter is a record producer and songwriter. As a producer, he has produced Thelma Houston, Lynne Randell, Rare Earth, Bobby Darin, O.C. Smith and many others. Porter is also responsible for the orchestral disco version of "Bandstand Boogie" for the television show ''American Bandstand''. He is married to percussionist Bobbye Hall. Career In July 1971, Porter took legal action against the music group Free Movement for breach of contract. This resulted from the group's taking hold of the name which Porter alleged belonged to him and failing to fulfill a songwriting agreement for which he was to get a percentage of their self composed songs. The case was dismissed. He had produced their 1971 song "Ive Found Someone Of My Own". Possibly due to competition with Soul Train, ''American Bandstand'' may have updated their version of "Bandstand Boogie" to a disco version.
