Jerry London
Jerry London (born January 21, 1947) is an American television director and producer. Life and career London has directed more than forty television movies including Emmy Award nominated '' Chiefs''. London won best director for James Clavell's ''Shōgun'', a nine-hour miniseries for NBC. He has also directed ten other miniseries, including the acclaimed '' The Scarlet and the Black'' with Gregory Peck, '' Chiefs'' with Charlton Heston, and ''Ellis Island'' with Richard Burton. He has taught film production at UCLA and Los Angeles Film School. London is the father of Todd London, a TV producer of HBO's ''Rome'' and '' The Pacific'', and a senior vice president and post-production executive of Walt Disney Pictures. ''Rome'' is a historical drama television series created by John Milius, William J. MacDonald (producer), William J. MacDonald, and Bruno Heller. The series is set in the 1st century BC, during Ancient Rome's transition from Roman Republic, Republic to Roman Empire, Empire. A father figure is usually an older man, normally one with power, authority, or strength, with whom one can identify on a deeply psychological level and who generates emotions generally felt towards one's father. The swan song ( grc, κύκνειον ᾆσμα; la, carmen cygni) is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime. The belief, whose basis has been long debated, had become proverbial in ancient Greece by the 3rd century BC and was reiterated many times in later Western poetry and art. Swans learn a variety of sounds throughout their lifetime. Their sounds are more distinguishing during courting rituals and not correlated with death. Ladies in White ( es, italics=no, Damas de Blanco) is an opposition movement in Cuba founded in 2003 by wives and other female relatives of jailed dissidents and those who have been made to disappear by the government. The women protest the imprisonments by attending Mass each Sunday wearing white dresses and then silently walking through the streets dressed in white clothing. The color white is chosen to symbolize peace. The movement received the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought from the European Parliament in 2005. The World Of Darkness (film)
''World of Darkness'' is a series of tabletop role-playing games, originally created by Mark Rein-Hagen for White Wolf Publishing. It began as an annual line of five games in 1991–1995, with '' Vampire: The Masquerade'', '' Werewolf: The Apocalypse'', ''Mage: The Ascension'', '' Wraith: The Oblivion'', and '' Changeling: The Dreaming'', along with off-shoots based on these. "Ma and Pa" is a song by American ska and funk metal band Fishbone. It was the second single released from the album ''Truth and Soul''. The song only managed to chart in the UK, but remains a fan favorite and a staple of the band's live shows to the present day. Lyrical Content The song's upbeat ska-based melody stands in direct contrast to its stark lyrical content which relates the story of a married couple's divorce difficulties as they fight for custody over their daughter. The song's lyrics are narrated by singer Angelo Moore from the point of view of an older brother in the troubled family who witnesses his sister's difficult position in the parents' fierce legal battle. The lyrics lament the girl's feelings at being caught in the middle of the divorce and berates the insensitive parents for not noticing her feelings.
