Jerry Kyd
Vice Admiral Jeremy Paul Kyd, (born 14 August 1967) is a former senior Royal Navy officer. He has served as the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey since October 2022. He formerly served as Fleet Commander from March 2019 to September 2021. Early life and education Kyd was born in August 1967. He was educated at King's School, Macclesfield, and the University of Southampton. Naval career Kyd was commissioned into the Royal Navy on 20 October 1990. He was given command of the frigate in 2004. Promoted to captain on 2 November 2009, he became the last commanding officer of in September 2010, commanding officer of in 2011 and commanding officer of the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth in September 2012. In February 2014, Kyd was named as the first future seagoing captain of the British aircraft carrier as well as Commander United Kingdom Task Group. Frigate
A frigate () is a type of warship. In different eras, the roles and capabilities of ships classified as frigates have varied somewhat. The name frigate in the 17th to early 18th centuries was given to any full-rigged ship built for speed and maneuverability, intended to be used in scouting, escort and patrol roles. The term was applied loosely to ships varying greatly in design. In the second quarter of the 18th century, the 'true frigate' was developed in France. This type of vessel was characterised by possessing only one armed deck, with an unarmed deck below it used for berthing the crew. Vice Admiral Andrew Paul Burns, (born 20 November 1969) is a senior Royal Navy officer. He has served as Fleet Commander since September 2021. Naval career Educated at Portsmouth Grammar School, Sherborne School and Durham University (Hatfield College) (1989–1992), Burns joined the Royal Navy in 1992. He also holds an MA degree in Defence Studies from King's College London. He was given command of the minesweeper in 2000 and, after being deployed to Iraq as a Director for Communications and Information Systems in 2004, he became commanding officer of the frigate in 2009 and then of the assault ship in 2012. Vice Admiral Paul Martin Bennett, is a former senior Royal Navy officer. Naval career Educated at Newcastle University, Bennett joined the Royal Navy in 1985. He trained as a navigator before being given command the minehunter in 1998, the destroyer in 1999 and the destroyer in 2008. He became Commander Amphibious Task Group in May 2009, Commodore Naval Personnel Strategy in January 2011 and Director of the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre in February 2013. The Commander United Kingdom Task Group (COMUKTG ) was a senior Royal Navy operational appointment from April 1992 to March 2015. In March 2015 the post was renamed Commander Amphibious Task Group. History In April 1992, the Royal Navy re-designated the First Flotilla the Surface Flotilla, would now be responsible for operational readiness and training. Flag Officer, Second Flotilla, Rear-Admiral John Brigstocke, became Commander UK Task Group - who would command any deployed task group. The Third Flotilla was abolished.
