Jerry Dempsey
Jerome Richard "Dick, Jerry" Dempsey (April 21, 1933 – January 14, 2015) was an American businessman, educator, and politician. Career Born in Henderson, Minnesota, Dempsey served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota), University of St. Thomas, his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, and his Specialist Degree in Education Administration from Winona State University. He began his teaching career teaching social studies at Goodhue High School, Goodhue, Minnesota, in 1959 and at Hastings High School, Hastings, Minnesota, from 1960 to 1973. In 1974, Dempsey served as an assistant principal at Hastings Junior High School (later renamed Hastings Middle School) until his retirement from education in 1993. Henderson, Minnesota
Henderson is a city in Sibley County, Minnesota, United States. The population in was 886 at the 2010 census. History Henderson was founded in August 1852 by Joseph R. Brown, and was named for his mother's maiden name. By 1855, Henderson had become a fast-growing city. It harbored more than 60 buildings, including a hotel, a warehouse, a steam sawmill, as well as Brown's house, which functioned as a boarding house, a store and the Brown family residence. In the following years, Henderson quickly became a major distribution center for the inland settlements surrounding the Minnesota River Valley. It was the trailhead of the Henderson- Pembina road. By the mid-1860s, Henderson had two major brickyards, The Mattei and Schwartz Brickyards, which both contributed heavily to the early 1900s brick-style buildings still found in Henderson. Terry Dempsey
Terence M. "Terry" Dempsey (February 17, 1932 - September 2, 2023) was an American politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represented the old House districts 23A and 28B, which included all or portions of Brown, Cottonwood, Nicollet and Redwood counties in the south central part of the state. A Republican, he was an attorney and partner in the New Ulm law firm of Somsen, Dempsey and Schade. Later, he served as a Minnesota district court judge. His brother Jerry Dempsey also served in the Minnesota Legislature. Dempsey was first elected to the House in 1978, unseating former New Ulm mayor and incumbent Rep. Tony Eckstein. He was re-elected to six additional terms. He served as minority leader from 1991 to 1992, and was an assistant minority leader from 1987 to 1991.
