Jerry Beckett
Jeremiah Alphonsus Beckett (4 June 1886 – 30 May 1943), better known as Jerry Beckett, was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a forward for the Cork senior team. Beckett made his first appearance for the team during the 1907 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for the following ten years. During that time he won one All-Ireland All-Ireland (sometimes All-Island) refers to all of Ireland, as opposed to the separate jurisdictions of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Lees GAA
Lees Football Club is a defunct Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club on the southside of Cork city, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886 and was primarily concerned with the game of Gaelic football. Derry Beckett
Jeremiah Beckett (24 December 1919 – August 1959) was an Irish Gaelic footballer and hurler who played left corner-forward for the Cork senior teams. Beckett joined the hurling team during the 1941 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen in both codes until his retirement after the 1947 football championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal in hurling as well as one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal in football. Beckett is one of only eighteen dual players to have won All-Ireland medals in both codes. Dual player or dual star is a term used in Hiberno-English to describe someone who competes in multiple sports — for example, in Victorian Ireland, cricket and hurling. The term today in Gaelic games typically describes a male player who plays both Gaelic football and hurling or, if a female player, a player of ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. The player does not necessarily have to play at the same standard in both sports. The number of dual stars at county level has decreased recently due to the increasing demands placed upon the best players of both sports. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football.
