Jerome Elementary School No. 22
The Jerome Elementary School No. 22 is a historic school building on North Louisiana Boulevard in Jerome, Arkansas. The single story brick building was constructed in 1930, at a time when Jerome was a thriving logging and farming town. It was used as a school until 1950, when Jerome's schools were consolidated with nearby Dermott. It sat vacant and deteriorating until it was sold in 1970 to a citizens' group, which rehabilitated the building for other civic purposes. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Jerome is a town in Drew County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 39 at the 2010 census. History During World War II, Jerome was home to a Japanese American internment camp, the Jerome War Relocation Center (1942–1944), designed by Edward F. Neild of Shreveport, Louisiana, and later converted into a prison camp for captured German soldiers. Dermott is a city in Chicot County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,316 at the 2010 census. Dermott was incorporated in 1890. Dermott was home to the Dermott Crawfish Festival. Geography Dermott is located in the northwest corner of Chicot County at (33.528712, -91.437657). Bayou Bartholomew, a tributary of the Ouachita River, touches the southwest corner of the city.
