Jerk Out
"Jerk Out" is a song from The Time's 1990 album '' Pandemonium''. The song was originally recorded in December 1981 by Prince at his home studio during sessions for '' What Time Is It?''. Prince originally performed all instruments and vocals and this recording remains unreleased. Prince reworked the song in the spring of 1985 for the band Mazarati. The song was ultimately left off the Mazarati album, though circulates among collectors. Again, the song was reworked in late 1989 for inclusion on ''Pandemonium'' Prince And Bruce DeShazer AKA Tony Christian From Mazarati Background Vocals Remain On Finish Track and contains input by the band. The Time (band)
The Time, also known as Morris Day and the Time and The Original 7ven, is an American musical group founded in Minneapolis in 1981. Their work has been a part of the formation of the Minneapolis sound, featuring a mix of soul music and dance music with funk, rock n roll, and more. Led by singer-songwriter Morris Day the band members are known for having been close Prince associates, and are arguably the most successful artists who have worked with Prince, achieving particular popularity with R&B fans with tracks such as " The Bird", " Cool", and " Jungle Love". ''What Time Is It?'' is a 1982 album by the Time. The album was recorded at Sunset Sound and Prince's home studio in the Minneapolis suburbs. The title of the album comes from an exclamation by Morris Day that became associated with the band's on-stage theatrics, appearing frequently on the band's debut album as well. Showcasing a denser and more inventive Minneapolis sound, ''What Time Is It?'' produced three singles: "777-9311", " The Walk" and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too". Recording Although the individual members of the Time are credited with instrumentation, it's likely that all instruments were played by Prince. James Samuel "Jimmy Jam" Harris III (born June 6, 1959) and Terry Steven Lewis (born November 24, 1956) are an American R&B/ pop songwriting and record production team. They have enjoyed great success since the 1980s with various artists, most notably Janet Jackson. They have written 31 top ten hits in the UK and 41 in the US. In 2022, the duo were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Musical Excellence category. History Jimmy Jam is the son of Cornbread Harris, a Minneapolis blues and jazz musician. A maxi single or maxi-single (sometimes abbreviated to MCD or CDM) is a music single release with more than the usual two tracks of an A-side song and a B-side song. The first maxi singles Mungo Jerry's first single, "In the Summertime" was the first maxi single in the world. The term came into wide use in the 1970s, where it usually referred to 7-inch vinyl singles featuring one track on the A-side and two on the B-side. The 1975 reissue of David Bowie's "Space Oddity", where the featured song is coupled with "Changes" and "Velvet Goldmine", is a typical example. Mazarati
Mazarati was an American R&B, rock and funk band, formed in the mid-1980s and was active until 1989. The band was seven pieces and included the former Prince and The Revolution bassist Brownmark. Originally hailing from Minneapolis, they became defunct as a group in 1989. The band's sole hit was a song called "100 MPH", which was written and co-produced by Prince. 1986: "Mazarati" and Paisley Park The band is notable for some of the songs that they did ''not'' release. They were originally given the song "Kiss" by Prince in demo form, with melody, lyrics and basic song structure. "Chocolate" is a song from The Time's 1990 album '' Pandemonium''. The song was released as the second single from ''Pandemonium'', and was written by usual band collaborator Prince. The song had been primarily recorded in April of 1983 during the early sessions for the group's third album, ''Ice Cream Castle''. ''Pandemonium'' is the fourth studio album by American band The Time released in 1990. Much like the three previous albums, the album consists of music in the funk rock genre, although this album breaks the Time's six-song album tradition. The album is a tie-in with the film '' Graffiti Bridge'', and several songs from the album appear in the film. According to biographer Matt Thorne, Prince co-wrote "Donald Trump (Black Version)". The album was certified Gold by the RIAA and "Jerk Out" became one of the band's biggest singles. The second single, "Chocolate" didn't fare as well.
