Jeremy Peacock
Jeremy Peacock (born 23 June 1991) is an Australian para-triathlete. He competed at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Personal life Peacock was born on 23 June 1991 three months premature that resulted in him being diagnosed with hemiplegia cerebral palsy. He has completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from Bond University. In 2024, he works as an associate director at KPMG. Paratriathlon During his high school years, he participated in able-bodied running and then cycling in his early 20's. He took up triathlon in 2017 and in 2019 transitioned to paratriathlon. He is classified as a PTS4 paratriathlrete. His Australian debut in 2020 and international debut in 2022. He won the bronze medal in the Men's PTS4 at 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series in Abu Dhabi. He was ranked seventh in the Men's PTS4 going into the 2024 Paris Paralympics and finished eight. The sport is governed by World Triathlon (TRI) (formerly known as ITU), and was first held as a Paralympic event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of movement disorders that appear in early childhood. Signs and symptoms vary among people and over time, but include poor coordination, stiff muscles, weak muscles, and tremors. There may be problems with sensation, vision, hearing, and speaking. Often, babies with cerebral palsy do not roll over, sit, crawl or walk as early as other children of their age. Other symptoms include seizures and problems with thinking or reasoning, which each occur in about one-third of people with CP. Paratriathlon Classification
Paratriathlon classification is the classification system for athletes participating in paratriathlon. It is governed by the World Triathlon (formerly known as ITU) The sport has been included in the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Classification system from 2017 World Triathlon has implemented some modifications to the classification system that was introduced in 2014 after further research was conducted to address certain aspects of the previous system. 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series
The 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series was the 14th season of the World Triathlon Championship Series, the top level international series for triathlon, since its establishment in 2009, and crowned the 34th official World Triathlon Champion for both men and women since the first was crowned in 1989. A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included.
