Jeremy Hardy
Jeremy James Hardy (17 July 19611 February 2019) was an English comedian. Born and raised in Hampshire, Hardy studied at the University of Southampton and began his stand-up career in the 1980s, going on to win the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1988. He is best known for his appearances on radio panel shows such as the '' News Quiz'' and ''I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue''. Early life Hardy was born in Aldershot, Hampshire, the fifth and youngest child of rocket scientist Donald D. Hardy (1925–2016) and Sheila Stagg (1924–2012). He attended Farnham College and studied modern history and politics at the University of Southampton. He subsequently failed to obtain a place on a journalism course, and considered becoming an actor or poet. Aldershot () is a town in Hampshire, England. It lies on heathland in the extreme northeast corner of the county, southwest of London. The area is administered by Rushmoor Borough Council. A boom operator (or First Assistant Sound) is a core role in the sound department of a film production, who works with the production sound mixer and utility sound technician. The principal responsibility of the boom operator is microphone placement, usually using a boom pole (or "fishpole") with a microphone attached to the end (called a boom mic), their aim being to hold the microphone as close to the actors or action as possible without allowing the microphone or boom pole to enter the camera's frame. ''Unnatural Acts'' was a BBC radio comedy series written by, and starring, Jeremy Hardy and Kit Hollerbach (who, at the time, were married) as "The Hardys" with Paul B Davies and Caroline Leddy as "Paul and Caroline". Two series were made in 1987 and 1988, with the third renamed ''At Home With The Hardys'' and broadcast in 1990. Further script input was from Pete Sinclair. The show was played as a straight sitcom but with considerable surreal elements. Much humour was had from Hollerbach's exaggeratedly American reactions to English life. ''If I Ruled the World'' is a television show aired in the United Kingdom in 1998 and 1999. It was a comedy panel game show, similar to '' Have I Got News for You'' but focused on parodying the behaviour of politicians. Rounds included answering questions without using the words 'Yes' or 'No', and finding reasons to disagree with policies proposed by the other team, no matter how sensible. The winning team was chosen each week by a vote of the studio audience. The show was named after the 1960s theatre song "If I Ruled the World". The show was presented by Clive Anderson. English Civil War
The English Civil War (1642–1651) was a series of civil wars and political machinations between Parliamentarians (" Roundheads") and Royalists led by Charles I ("Cavaliers"), mainly over the manner of England's governance and issues of religious freedom. It was part of the wider Wars of the Three Kingdoms. The first (1642–1646) and second (1648–1649) wars pitted the supporters of King Charles I against the supporters of the Long Parliament, while the third (1649–1651) saw fighting between supporters of King Charles II and supporters of the Rump Parliament. ''Blackadder Goes Forth'' is the fourth series of the BBC sitcom '' Blackadder'', written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, which aired from 28 September to 2 November 1989 on BBC1. The series placed the recurring characters of Blackadder, Baldrick, and George in a trench in Flanders during World War I, and followed their various doomed attempts to escape from the trenches to avoid death under the misguided command of General Melchett.
