Penderecki String Quartet
The Penderecki String Quartet is a string quartet, founded in 1986, now based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. History The original members of the string quartet started in Poland as the New Szymanowski Quartet. In 1986 they won the Penderecki Prize at the National Chamber Music Competition in Łódź, Poland. They performed Penderecki's Quartet No.2, and the composer invited the quartet to take his name. The PSQ have been Quartet-in-Residence at Canada's Wilfrid Laurier University since 1991. Current members are from Poland, Canada, and the USA. Previously they were affiliated with the University of Wisconsin (1988-91). The quartet's annual Quartetfest at Laurier is an intensive study seminar and concert series. The quartet's recording of Marjan Mozetich’s ''Lament in the Trampled Garden'' won the Juno Awards of 2010 Classical Composition of the Year. ''Percy Jackson and the Olympians'' is an upcoming American fantasy television series created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz for the streaming service Disney+, based on the novel series of the same name by Rick Riordan. The series is produced by Disney Branded Television, 20th Television, and the Gotham Group. Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Development on the series began by May 2020, following a pitch by Riordan to the Walt Disney Company. Steinberg and Shotz were announced as showrunners in July 2021, with James Bobin hired to direct the first episode in October. Scobell was cast in the lead role in January 2022, with Jeffries and Simhadri joining the cast in May. By September, Anders Engström and Jet Wilkinson were also set to direct multiple episodes of the series. Filming began in June 2022 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Plymouth Raiders
The Plymouth Raiders was a professional basketball team based in Plymouth, England. The team competed in the British Basketball League, the country's premier basketball competition. The club was founded in 1983 through a merger between two local basketball clubs and went on to be the longest-serving and most successful team in Division 1 of the English Basketball League. Between 1996 and 2004, Plymouth Raiders won six different competitions, including three National Basketball League Play-off titles and the National Cup in 2004. After several years of dominating the EBL, in 2004 the Raiders moved up to the franchise-based British Basketball League, pitting themselves against the country's elite teams. To date their only success in the top-tier competition came in 2007, winning the BBL Trophy, though the team has reached a further three Trophy and BBL Cup Finals since.
