Jerai is a federal constituency in Yan District and Kuala Muda District , Kedah, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since from 1959 to 1995, from 2004 to present. The federal constituency was created in the 1958 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under the first past the post voting system. Mohd Firdaus Jaafar
Mohd Firdaus Jaafar (born 15 March 1974) is a Malaysian politician of Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH), a component party of Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Jerai constituency in Kedah for one term from 2008 to 2013. He was a member of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) before joining AMANAH in 2016. Firdaus was elected to the Jerai seat in the 2008 election, defeating incumbent Badruddin Amiruldin of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Prior to the election, Firdaus was a religious teacher ( ms, Ustaz). He was defeated in the 2013 election by BN's Jamil Khir Baharom. 12th Parliament Of Malaysia
The 12th Malaysian Parliament is the last meeting of the legislative branch of the government of Malaysia, the Parliament, comprising the directly elected lower house, the ''Dewan Rakyat'', and the appointed upper house, the ''Dewan Negara''. It met for the first time at the Malaysian Houses of Parliament on 28 April 2008 and met for the last time on 29 November 2012. The King then dissolved the Parliament on 3 April 2013. Badruddin Amiruldin
Badruddin bin Amiruldin (born 20 May 1951) is a Malaysian politician. He is currently the Permanent Chairman of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the largest Malay political party in the country and the leader of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Badruddin was also, until his defeat in the March 2008 General Elections, the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Jerai, Kedah in the lower house of Parliament, the Dewan Rakyat. Early political life Badruddin was not a very well known politician in the early 1990s and started as a backbencher in Parliament, when he made his electoral debut in the 1992 Jerai by-election and get elected the first time as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Jerai before it was abolished in 1995.
