Jensen McRae (born 1997) is an American singer-songwriter and poet. She gained prominence for her debut singles "White Boy" (2019) and "Wolves"(2020). Her music has been recommended by ''Rolling Stone'', Vulture, ''Nylon'', ''NPR'', and ''The Fader''. Her debut EP ''Who Hurt You?'' was released on June 25, 2021, followed by her debut studio album ''Are You Happy Now?'', which was released on March 22, 2022. "Strange Fruit" is a song written and composed by Abel Meeropol (under his pseudonym Lewis Allan) and recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939. The lyrics were drawn from a poem by Meeropol published in 1937. The song protests the lynching of Black Americans with lyrics that compare the victims to the fruit of trees.
