Jens Winter
Jens Winter (born May 26, 1965) is a German film and theatre actor of British descent. He has resided in Berlin, Germany since 1987 and performs in German and English language productions. Furthermore, is he an acting teacher at the Berlin drama school theakademie. His works include German features, TV films and series as well as Irish and American productions, such as the Science Fiction feature Summer of the Flying Saucer directed by Irish filmmaker Martin Duffy. In 2008 it was selected as the opening film of CineMagic film festival Dublin. The short film Jonah And The Vicarious Nature Of Homesickness by British-Australian film maker Bryn Chainey in which he plays the lead Jonah is the winner of the Berlin Today Award 2010 of Berlinale Talent Campus. Volksbühne
The Volksbühne ("People's Theatre") is a theater in Berlin. Located in Berlin's city center Mitte on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (Rosa Luxemburg Square) in what was the GDR's capital. It has been called Berlin's most iconic theatre. About The Volksbühne was built during the years 1913 to 1914 and was designed by Oskar Kaufmann, with integrated sculpture by Franz Metzner. It opened on December 30, 1914 and has its origin in an organization known as the "Freie Volksbühne" ("Free People's Theater") founded in 1890 by Bruno Wille and Wilhelm Bölsche, which sketched out the vision for a theater "of the people" in 1892. The goal of the organization was to promote the naturalist plays of the day at prices accessible to the common worker. Kunsthaus Tacheles
The Kunsthaus Tacheles (English: ''Art House Tacheles'') was an art center in Berlin, Germany, a large () building and sculpture park on Oranienburger Straße, in the sub-neighborhood of Spandauer Vorstadt in the Mitte district. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals were painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures were featured inside. The building housed an artist collective from 1990 until 2012. Originally called Friedrichstraßenpassage, it was built in 1907–1908 as a department store in the Jewish quarter (Scheunenviertel) of Berlin, next to the synagogue. During World War II it served as a Nazi prison for a short while. Under GDR authorities it was later partially demolished. After the Berlin Wall had come down in 1989, it was taken over by artists, who called it ''Tacheles'', Yiddish for "straight talking".
