Jenny Woodward
Jenny Woodward is an Australian journalist. She is currently weather presenter for ''ABC News'' in Queensland. Career Woodward began her television career at DDQ-10 in Toowoomba where she produced and directed children's programmes, variety shows and special events. She was also a newsreader and weather presenter. In 1986, Woodward joined ABC News in Queensland as weather presenter. She is believed to be Australia's longest serving weather presenter. Woodward also conducts frequent live broadcasts, including annual broadcasts from the Royal Queensland Show (colloquially 'Ekka'). She has been the compere of the nationally televised "Spirit of Christmas" concert series at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre for seven years. She also regularly features on ABC News 24 as a weather presenter. DDQ-10
RTQ is an Australian television station broadcasting in regional Queensland in Australia. The network was owned by Star Television, before being purchased by the WIN Corporation on 5 October 1988. Network history WIN Television Queensland started out as Darling Downs Television Limited in 1959, which was launched as a television network in 1962 as Queensland's first regional TV station, DDQ-10, broadcasting to the Darling Downs area for the first time. SDQ-4 for the Southern Downs soon launched in 1964, and DDQ-5 was next to air later (it would later change frequencies to 5A) for Toowoomba viewers. Rockhampton station, RTQ-7, was launched by Rockhampton Television Ltd on 7 September 1963 to serve viewers in Rockhampton and its suburbs. Between 1968 and 1971, RTQ's viewing audience across Central Queensland considerably increased with the installation of transmitters at Cracow, Blackwater and Gladstone. Royal Queensland Show
The Ekka is the annual agricultural show of Queensland, Australia. Its formal title is the Royal Queensland Show, and it is held at the Brisbane Showgrounds. It was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, but it is more commonly known as the "Ekka", short for "exhibition". It is run by The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA). The Ekka is Queensland's largest annual event, which welcomes an average of 400,000 visitors each August. The show welcomes 21,000 competition entries, 10,000 animals, and hours of free family entertainment, including a night program. The Ekka features a sideshow alley, showbag pavilion, and nightly fireworks displays. The significance of the first exhibition held in 1876 was described by locals as the most important event since the separation of Queensland from New South Wales in 1859.
