Jenny And The Soldier
''Jenny and the Soldier'' ( da, Soldaten og Jenny) is a 1947 Danish dramatic film written and directed by Johan Jacobsen. The black-and-white film is based on the 1940 stage play ''Brudstykker af et mønster'' () written by Danish playwright Carl Erik Soya. The gritty romantic drama received critical praise for its authentic portrayal of everyday life. Jacobsen received the first Bodil Award for Best Danish Film, while both Poul Reichhardt and Bodil Kjer were awarded Bodils for their leading roles. Johan Jacobsen
Johan Jacobsen (born 14 March 1912 in Aarhus – died 7 July 1972 in Copenhagen) was a Danish film director. His parents were theatre manager Jacob Jørgen Jacobsen (1865-1955) and actress Christel Holch (1886-1968). From the 1940s Jacobsen directed a number of both popular and critically acclaimed films for the film studio Palladium. From 1947 onwards he was an independent director and producer. He produced his own films and those of his partner Annelise Hovmand (1924-2016) at his own film studio Flamingo. In 1959 he was a member of the jury at the 9th Berlin International Film Festival. His A Stranger Knocks (1959) was in competition at the San Francisco International Film Festival 1960. It was distributed in the US by Trans-Lux and played a major part in bringing down the American State Film Censorship system in 1965. Karin Nellemose (3 August 1905 – 5 August 1993), was a Danish actress in the theatre and in Danish cinema. She was the sister of sculptor Knud Nellemose (1908–1997). Svend Methling (1 October 1891 – 4 June 1977) was a Danish actor and film director. He was a director for Dansk Skolescene 1924-1929, for Folkescenen 1925 and for Komediehuset 1929-1930. He also worked as a director at the Det Ny Teater between 1926-1929. From 1932 to 1962 he worked as an actor in numerous films often family musical oriented films.
