Jennifer Koranteng
Jennifer Koranteng (born 27 July 1986) is a Ghanaian businesswoman, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was first runner up at Miss Ghana 2006, went on to become Miss Universe Ghana in 2009 and represented her country at the Miss Universe pageant later that same year in Bahamas. She is also the founder and creative lead of African fashion brand JVK Clothing. Early life Koranteng was born on 27 July 1986 in Accra, Ghana. She grew up in Axim until age 5 when she moved to Takoradi with her family where she lived for another 2 years before moving to Accra. She enrolled at the Morning Star school where she completed her primary and Junior High School education before moving on to the prestigious Wesley Girls' High School for her secondary education. Miss Universe 2009
Miss Universe 2009 was the 58th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Imperial Ballroom in Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, The Bahamas on August 23, 2009. At the end of the event, Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela crowned Stefanía Fernández of Venezuela as Miss Universe 2009. This marks the first and so far, the only time in Miss Universe history that a country has won for two consecutive years. Contestants from 83 countries and territories competed in this year's pageant. The competition was hosted by Billy Bush and Claudia Jordan; Bush last served as host during Miss Universe 2005. Axim
Axim is a coastal town and the capital of Nzema East Municipal district, a district in Western Region of South Ghana. Axim lies 64 kilometers west of the port city of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, west of Cape Three Points. Axim has a 2013 settlement population of 27,719 people. History This area was occupied by the Nzema people. The Portuguese arrived by the early 16th century as traders. They built a prominent seaside fort, Fort Santo Antonio, in 1515. Jamestown/Usshertown, Accra
Located directly east of the Korle Lagoon, Jamestown and Usshertown are the oldest districts of Accra, Ghana and emerged as communities around the 17th century British James Fort and Dutch Ussher Fort on the Gulf of Guinea coast.
