William Jenkyn
William Jenkyn (1613–1685) was an English clergyman, imprisoned during the Interregnum for his part in the 'Presbyterian plot' of Christopher Love, ejected minister in 1662, and imprisoned at the end of his life for nonconformity. Life Jenkyn was the eldest son of William Jenkyn (d. 1618), vicar of All Saints', Sudbury, Suffolk, born at Sudbury and baptised at All Saints' Church in December 1613. His father, son of a gentleman of landed property at Folkestone, Kent, had been disinherited for his Puritanism. His mother was daughter of Richard Rogers of Wethersfield, Essex. On his father's death his grandfather sent for him to Folkestone; when he was nine years old his mother, who had remarried, claimed him, gave him a good education, and sent him to St John's College, Cambridge, where he matriculated on 3 July 1628. William Jenkyn Thomas (5 July 1870 – 14 March 1959) was a Welsh headmaster and author best known for his ''The Welsh Fairy Book''. He was an undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge and in addition to his writings worked as a lecturer and teacher. Jenkyn Beverley Smith, FLSW, FRHistS (born 27 September 1931), published as J. Beverley Smith, is a historian of medieval Wales, who was successively Sir John Williams Professor of Welsh History (1986–95), Research Professor of Welsh History (1995–99) and Emeritus Professor (since 1999) at Aberystwyth University. Career Born on 27 September 1931, Smith completed his undergraduate and master's degrees at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth (later Aberystwyth University). After completing two years of National Service in 1956, Smith joined the Board of Celtic Studies at the University of Wales as a researcher, before spending two years as the Assistant Keeper of the Department of Manuscripts and Records at the National Library of Wales from 1958 to 1960.
