Jencks Act
In the United States, the Jencks Act () provides that the prosecutor is required to produce a verbatim statement or report made by a government witness or prospective government witness (other than the defendant), but only after the witness has testified. Jencks material is evidence that is used in the course of a federal criminal prosecution in the United States. It usually consists of documents relied upon by government witnesses who testify at trial. The material is described as ''inculpatory'', favoring the United States government's prosecution of a criminal defendant. The Jencks Act also covers other documents related to the testimony, or relied upon by government witnesses at trial. Typically, the material may consist of police notes, memoranda, reports, summaries, letters, related to an indictment or verbatim transcripts used by government agents or employees to testify at trial. Bob Jencks
Robert William Jencks (July 15, 1941 – September 6, 2010) was an American football kicker and end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Miami University and was drafted in the second round of the 1963 NFL Draft. Jencks was also selected in the fifth round of the 1963 AFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. His rookie season was 1963, when the Bears defeated the New York Giants for the team's first NFL title since 1946. Charles Alexander Jencks (21 June 1939 – 13 October 2019) was an American cultural theorist, landscape designer, architectural historian, and co-founder of the Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres. He published over thirty books and became famous in the 1980s as a theorist of Postmodernism. Jencks devoted time to landform architecture, especially in Scotland. These landscapes include the '' Garden of Cosmic Speculation'' and earthworks at Jupiter Artland outside Edinburgh. Christopher Sandy Jencks (born October 22, 1936) is an American social scientist. Career Jencks is currently the Malcolm Wiener Professor of Social Policy in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1954 and was president of the school's newspaper, the Exonian, as a senior. After Exeter, he received an A.B. in English literature from Harvard in 1958, followed by a M.Ed. in Harvard Graduate School of Education. During the year 1960-1961 he studied sociology at the London School of Economics. He has previously held positions at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Clinton Jencks
Clinton Jencks (March 1, 1918 – December 15, 2005) was an American lifelong activist in labor and social justice causes, most famous for union organizing among New Mexico's miners, acting in the 1954 film '' Salt of the Earth'' (where he portrayed "Frank Barnes", a character based on himself), and enduring years of government prosecution (and persecution) for allegedly falsifying a Taft-Hartley non-communist affidavit. Penelope Jencks (born 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA) is an American sculptor and a graduate of Boston University (BFA, 1958). Richard William Jencks (1921 – June 30, 2014) was an American television executive, lawyer, former president of the CBS Broadcast Group, and former member of CBS' board of directors. He retired from his position as Corporate Vice President of CBS in 1976. Jencks was also a former president of the Alliance of Television and Film Producers, or ATFP, which is now called the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. William Jencks
William Platt Jencks (August 15, 1927 – January 3, 2007) was an American biochemist. He was noted particularly for his work on enzymes, using concepts drawn from organic chemistry to understand their mechanisms. Career Jencks graduated from Harvard College in 1947 with a degree in English, and earned a Doctor of Medicine from Harvard University in 1951. He interned at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Peter Bent Brigham hospital. Jencks conducted his first postdoctoral research for two years with Fritz Lipmann at Harvard Medical School.
