Jen Li-yu
Jen Li-yu (; born 27 January 1945) is a retired Taiwanese meteorologist who worked for the Central Weather Bureau and became the first weather presenter in Taiwan to have been trained as a meteorologist. Career Jen was born in Chongqing and studied atmospheric science at Chinese Culture University. After completing his degree, Jen joined the Central Weather Bureau in 1968, and later led the agency's weather forecasting center from 1981–93. He spent 25 years with the Central Weather Bureau. Upon retiring from the agency in 1993, Jen was hired by Taiwan Television to present the weather. He was the first professional meteorologist to serve as a weather presenter in Taiwan. Prior to Jen's hiring by TTV, television stations in Taiwan would often have newscasters read data complied by the Central Weather Bureau. Meteorologist
A meteorologist is a scientist who studies and works in the field of meteorology aiming to understand or predict Earth's atmospheric phenomena including the weather. Those who study meteorological phenomena are meteorologists in research, while those using mathematical models and knowledge to prepare daily weather forecasts are called ''weather forecasters'' or ''operational meteorologists''. Meteorologists work in government agencies, private consulting and research services, industrial enterprises, utilities, radio and television stations, and in education. The Golden Bell Awards () is an annual Taiwanese television and radio production award presented in October or November each year by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development, a division of Taiwan's Ministry of Culture. The Central Weather Bureau (CWB; ) is the government meteorological research and forecasting institution of the Republic of China (Taiwan). In addition to meteorology, the Central Weather Bureau also makes astronomical observations, reports on sea conditions, and conducts research into seismology and provides earthquake reports. TVBS Media Inc. (), formerly Liann Yee Production Co., Ltd. (), is a Taiwanese commercial television broadcasting company.
