Aroostook County ( ; french: Comté d'Aroostook) is a county in the U.S. state of Maine along the Canada–U.S. border. As of the 2020 census, the population was 67,105. Its county seat is Houlton, with offices in Caribou and Fort Kent. Known locally in Maine as "The County", it is the largest county in Maine by total area, and the second largest in the United States by total area east of the Mississippi River, behind St. Louis County, Minnesota. With over of land it is larger than three U.S. states. It is Maine's northernmost county.
