Jemimah Gecaga
Jemimah Gecaga (1920–1979) was the first woman to serve in the legislature of Kenya and founder of woman's advocacy organization Maendeleo Ya Wanawake. Biography Gecaga was born to a Kikuyu family in Kenya. Her parents, Leah Magana and George Segeni Njoroge, were Christian converts who attended the Church of the Torch which had been founded by the famous Church of Scotland minister, John William Arthur. Her father worked as a cook at a Presbyterian mission in Nairobi and later opened a store. She has five brothers and one sister including Kenyan Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament Njoroge Mungai (1926–2014) and Kenyan diplomat Ngethe Njoroge (formerly married to American activist Mary Morello and father of American guitarist Tom Morello). Njoroge Mungai
Magana Njoroge Mungai, M.D. EGH (January 7, 1926 – August 16, 2014) was a Kenyan Cabinet Minister, Member of Parliament, doctor, businessman, farmer, politician, nationalist and one of the founding fathers of the Republic of Kenya. Early life and education Njoroge Mungai was born in Gichungo village, in Kiambu in colonial Kenya. His parents, Leah Magana and George Segeni Njoroge, were pioneer Christians who attended Church of the Torch which had been founded by the famous Church of Scotland minister, John William Arthur. In fact, John Arthur was the attendant at his birth. Kenyatta Family
The Kenyatta family is the family of Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya and a prominent leader in that country's independence. Born into the dominant Kikuyu people, Kikuyu culture, Kenyatta became its most famous interpreter of Kikuyu traditions through his book ''Facing Mount Kenya''. Born Kamau Wa Muigai at Ng'enda village, Gatundu Division, Kiambu to Muigai and Wambui, Jomo Kenyatta served as the first Prime Minister (1963–1964) and President (1964–1978) of Kenya. His date of birth, sometime in the early to mid 1890s, is unclear. In 1914, he was baptized a Christian and given the name John Peter which he changed to Johnstone. Nana Gecaga
Nana Gecaga (born 1978), is a Kenyan businesswoman and corporate executive, who served as the CEO of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), from April 1st 2016 to December 29th 2022. KICC is a building owned by the government of Kenya, which hosts conferences, concerts and exhibitions. Background and education She was born in Kenya in March 1978 to Jeni Wambui, a daughter to Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of Kenya (1964–1978), and Udi Gecaga, son of Jemimah Gecaga. Nana is a niece to Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Kenya (2013–2022). She holds a bachelor's degree in marketing obtained from the American InterContinental University in London, United Kingdom. Uhuru Kenyatta
Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta (born 26 October 1961) is a Kenyan politician who served as the fourth president of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. Kenyatta was chosen by Daniel Arap Moi as his preferred successor, but Kenyatta was defeated by opposition leader Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 election and Kibaki replaced Moi as president. Kenyatta served as the member of parliament (MP) for Gatundu South from 2002 to 2013. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister to Raila Odinga from 2008 to 2013.
