Jeff Shafer
Jeff Shafer (Born February 20, 1975) is a former racing driver. Shafer competed in USF2000, Atlantic Championship among other series. Career Shafer started his racing career in karting. Shafer won the IKF Sprint Grand National. At Iowa International Raceway in Marshalltown, Iowa, Shafer won the Yamaha KT100S Heavy class. Shafers first experience in autosport came at the Winfield Racing School in France. A strong performance earned him a scholarship for the 1996 Skip Barber championship. At Las Vegas Motor Speedway Shafer was one of two winners of the inaugural Team Green Academy Young American Driver Development Program, the other being Matt Sielsky. With Team KOOL Green Shafer competed in the 1997 U.S. F2000 National Championship. Racing the experimental Nemesis 97 chassis Shafer struggled in the opening rounds. USF2000
The USF2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires is an American racing series using the American variation of the Formula Ford formula, "F2000", that resumed operation for the 2010 season. As of 2022, it is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club, and is the first rung of the Road to Indy. History Andersen/Foschi era The series was initially founded by Doug Powell in 1990, and regularly fielded over 60 entries per race. In the first seasons the series was mainly based in the western part of the United States sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. For 1992 the series started a Western Division and an Eastern Division, the Eastern Division being headed by Dan Andersen and Mike Foschi. Firebird Raceway
__NOTOC__ Firebird Raceway is a motorsport racing venue in the western United States, near Eagle, Idaho, in the Boise metropolitan area. The raceway opened in 1968 under management of racing enthusiasts Bill and Ellanor New, and it has remained under ownership of the New family. A longstanding member track of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the raceway has been named NHRA Track of the Year three times. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, the first dragstrip to be included on the register.The NRHP nomination form had not been digitized as of April 2019. Radical Motorsport is a British manufacturer and constructor of racing cars. The company was founded in January 1997 by amateur drivers and engineers Mick Hyde and Phil Abbott, who built open cockpit sportscars which could be registered for road use and run on a track without modification. Radical produce a mix of purpose built race cars as well as road legal sports cars in varying specifications. Their most popular car is the Radical SR3. History The company's first car, built by Phil Abbott in 1996, the Radical 1100 Clubsport, was based on a Kawasaki motorcycle engine placed inside a small open-cockpit chassis. Mondello Park
Mondello Park is Ireland's only international motorsport venue and is located in Caragh, County Kildare off the R409 regional road, approximately from Dublin city centre. History The Mondello Park short circuit was designed on farmland near Naas in Co Kildare by Stuart Cosgrave in 1966, following the demise of the Dunboyne motor races on traditional and dangerous roads in Co Meath. The circuit opened in 1968, and was extended via the National Loop the following year. Well-known Irish drivers such as Derek Daly, David Kennedy, Tommy Byrne and Eddie Jordan cut their teeth on the circuit in the 1970s and early 1980s, going on to international fame, but financial difficulties emerged thereafter. Derek Daly
Derek Patrick Daly (born 11 March 1953) is an Irish former racing driver. He won the 1977 British Formula 3 Championship, and competed as a professional racing driver for 17 years participating in 64 World Championship Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 2 April 1978. He scored a total of 15 championship points, and also participated in several non-Championship Formula One races. After F1, Daly raced in CART and IMSA, where he achieved much success with Nissan. Racing career After honing his skills in the Irish Formula Ford Championship, Daly had his first drive in the European Formula Two Championship in 1977. In 1978 and 1979, he competed in both Formula Two and Formula One, finishing third in the Formula Two championship in both seasons. The 1998 Molson Indy Vancouver was the fifteenth round of the 1998 CART FedEx Champ Car World Series season, held on September 6, 1998, at Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Dario Franchitti took his second consecutive win at this race, after passing Michael Andretti for the lead with seven laps left. In doing so, Franchitti became the first driver to win a race from pole for over a year. Building an insurmountable lead in the championship standings, Alex Zanardi's 4th-place finish in this race clinched the 1998 CART title with still four races remaining.
