Jeff Phillips (singer)
Jeffrey Travis Andrew Phillips (born November 1948) is an Australian TV show host, personality, musical theatre actor and pop singer active from 1966 to the early 1990s. As a pop singer, he had a Top 40 hit on the ''Go-Set'' singles chart with a cover version of The Shirelles' 1961 hit, "Baby It's You". At the Logie Awards of 1970, he won the Best New Talent category for hosting his own ABC TV pop show, '' Sounds Like Us''. In the early 1970s he hosted a series of teen pop music shows, ''Happening '71'' and ''Happening '72''. In July 1972 Phillips won a song prize at the Fifth Olympiad of Song, held in Athens, performing his self-written work, "Gloria"; the prize money was 100,000 drachmae (AUD $2,797). Although he issued further singles, until the early 1980s, he had no other national Top 40 chart success. Jeffrey Daniel Phillips is an American actor and filmmaker. Career He is best known for playing a caveman in a popular series of GEICO commercials. He played the part of Maurice in the short-lived ''Cavemen'' sitcom on ABC. Jeff Phillips (June 11, 1963 – December 25, 1993) was an American professional skateboarder. Phillips grew up in Dallas, Texas and started skateboarding at 10 years old. In 1973, his grandmother Annice gave him a Shark skateboard with steel wheels. Jeff and his father, Charles, crafted skateboards at home out of scraps of birch and plywood. As a teenager he frequented “Wizard Skateboard Park” in Garland and then a few years later “Skate Time” at Bachman Lake, in Dallas featuring the infamous “Blue Ramp/Clown Ramp”. Phillips won his first contest as a sponsored amateur in July 1982 at the Kona/Variflex Summer Nationals. In March 1986, Phillips placed third at the opening NSA Pro-Am event in Houston. Later in December, he claimed a victory at the NSA Pro-Am Final in Anaheim, defeating competition favorite Tony Hawk.
