Jeff Jakaitis
Jeff Jakaitis (born June 9, 1983) is a former American professional ice hockey goaltender who last played for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. Playing career College Jakaitis played college hockey for the Lake Superior State Lakers in the CCHA (NCAA Division I). He was named to the All-CCHA First Team at the completion of the 2005–06 season and to the All-CCHA Second team at the completion of the 2006-07. Professional Jakaitis began his professional career in the 2007–08 season with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. He played in 36 games in his first pro season posting a 2.92 GAA and .909 save percentage. For the 2008–09 season Jakaitis signed with the Charlotte Checkers and played 47 ECHL games that year along with 1 American Hockey League game for the Portland Pirates. South Carolina Stingrays
The South Carolina Stingrays are a professional minor league ice hockey team based in North Charleston, South Carolina. The Stingrays play in the South Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference. They play their home games at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Carolina Ice Palace, also located in North Charleston, serves as a practice facility and backup arena. Established in 1993, the team has been owned by a group of local businesses since 1995. The team was affiliated with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League from 2004 to July 2012, when the Capitals announced their affiliation with the ECHL's Reading Royals. The 2011 Central Hockey League All-Star Game was on January 12, 2011 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, home of the Rapid City Rush, in the 2010–11 CHL season. The 2010–11 CHL season was the 19th season of the Central Hockey League (CHL). Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Several teams of defunct leagues joined the CHL along its history, including the Southern Hockey League, Western Professional Hockey League and International Hockey League. Dayton Gems (2009–2012)
The Dayton Gems were a minor professional ice hockey team based in Dayton, Ohio, in the Central Hockey League. The team was originally a member of the International Hockey League before it merged into the CHL in 2010. The team played their home games at the Hara Arena in nearby Trotwood. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). The Charlotte Checkers are a minor-league professional ice hockey team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2008–09 ECHL season was the 21st of the ECHL. League business Team changes The league welcomed one new franchise, the Ontario Reign, which relocated from Beaumont, Texas and played at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Two teams, the Columbia Inferno and the Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz, voluntarily suspended operations for the season with plans on returning in the 2009–10 season. The Myrtle Beach franchise was originally planning to return to operations, but their arena had not been completed in time for the Board of Governors Meeting during the All-Star Break. Save percentage (often known by such symbols as SV%, SVS%, SVP, PCT) is a statistic in various goal-scoring sports that track saves as a statistic. In ice hockey and lacrosse, it is a statistic that represents the percentage of shots on goal a goaltender stops. It is calculated by dividing the number of saves by the total number of shots on goal. Although the statistic is called a "percentage", it is often given as a decimal, in the same way as a batting average in baseball. Thus, .933 means a goaltender saved 93.3 percent of all shots they faced. In international ice hockey, a save percentage is expressed as a true percentage, such as 90%.
