Jeff Erna
Jeff Erna is an American drummer, from Boston, Massachusetts, most notable for being the original drummer for the punk bands Dropkick Murphys and Street Dogs. Career Erna began his professional career in the Boston garage band Jared, which produced its single "Space Traveler" in 1980. He was the original drummer for the punk/ new wave band The Blackjacks and drummed for the Boston based rock band The Outlets. In 1996, Erna, The Outlets' guitarist Rick Barton, singer Mike McColgan, and bassist Ken Casey formed the Dropkick Murphys. Erna would appear on the band's earliest 7" records, compilation appearances and their '' Boys on the Docks'' EP before leaving the band in 1997 shortly before the recording of their debut album, '' Do or Die''. Nervous Eaters
The Nervous Eaters, one of Boston's first punk/ new wave bands forming in 1973, debuted in early 1977 with Steve Cataldo on vocals and guitar, Robb Skeen on bass, and Jeff Wilkinson on drums. They had used the name some years earlier, but had not performed live under it. As the Rhythm Assholes, they had backed local rock legend Willie Alexander on his single "Kerouac" and in concert. After a name change, they made their debut at the hub of the city's alternative music scene, the Rathskeller—known as the Rat—in January 1977. Hellcat Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. The label, an offshoot of Epitaph Records, was started as a partnership between Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion, the owner of Epitaph, and Tim Armstrong of Rancid (band), Rancid, who was generally responsible for signing bands. Hellcat published its ''Give 'Em the Boot'' sampler (record), label sampler in multiple volumes starting in 1997. The Bruisers
The Bruisers were a punk band that pioneered the American streetpunk/oi! movement, formed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1988. The original lineup included: Al Barr (vocals, now the lead singer of the Boston punk band Dropkick Murphys), Scotty Davies ( bass), Jeff Morris (guitar) and Rodger Shosa (drums). Morris is now a guitarist and lead vocalist for Death & Taxes, and a former guitarist for Mark Lind & the Unloved. Former guitarist Rick Wimert died 1995. The first band members were skinheads (although not white power skinheads). After a few years and lineup changes, the band and their style changed slightly.
