Jeff Allen (offensive Lineman)
Jeff Allen (born January 8, 1990) is a former American football guard. He played college football for Illinois. Allen was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Houston Texans. College career After graduating from Chicago's King High School, Allen attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign from 2008 to 2011. He started 47 games at both left and right tackle during his career. Professional career 2012 NFL Draft Projected as a second round selection by '' Sports Illustrated'', Allen was ranked as the No. 6 offensive guard available in the 2012 NFL Draft. Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered Eligible receiver, ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. Jonathan Yao-Lante Asamoah (born July 21, 1988) is a former offensive guard who played in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Illinois. Asamoah was considered one of the top interior offensive linemen for the 2010 NFL Draft. Asamoah has also played for the Atlanta Falcons. High school career Asamoah attended Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois, where he was a two-time first-team SICA Green All-Conference selection and helped the offense to gain over 3,100 rushing yards.
