Jeepster Records
Jeepster Records is an English, London-based independent record label, founded in 1995, and specializing in British indie and alternative bands, particularly Glasgow-based acts. It is most notable for its signing of Belle and Sebastian and Snow Patrol. Early success Jeepster Records was founded in 1995 by Mark Jones and Stefano D’Andrea, through a mutual interest in the contemporary indie scene. Following their establishment and after extensive scouting, the label signed their first act, the newly formed Belle and Sebastian, in August 1996. In November of the same year, the band's first album with Jeepster, ''If You're Feeling Sinister'' was released. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Up To Now
''Up to Now'' is the first compilation album by alternative rock band Snow Patrol. The album features tracks spanning Snow Patrol's fifteen-year music career, including tracks from The Reindeer Section, a side-project/ supergroup involving musicians from all over Scotland. The album was released in early November 2009, primarily as a two-disc set and a three-disc digipak format containing one DVD of bonus material. A limited edition heavyweight box was also sold. Three new songs were released on the album. One of these was " Just Say Yes", the lead single taken from the compilation. The solo re-recording of "An Olive Grove Facing the Sea" was released as the album's second single. In Netherlands, Belgium and Finland "Run" was re-released in a version called "Run (2010 Version)" in January 2010. ''The BBC Sessions'' is an album by Belle and Sebastian. It is a double album. The first disc (''Radio Sessions'') is a compilation of unreleased recordings recorded between 1996 and 2001, while the second (''Live in Belfast'') is a live recording from a concert in Belfast on 21 December 2001. The live album contains covers of "Here Comes the Sun", "I'm Waiting for the Man" and "The Boys are Back in Town". The tracks on the first album come from sessions with Mark Radcliffe, Steve Lamacq and John Peel. The album cover features former member Isobel Campbell, who departed the band six years before this album's release, but is heard on these recordings. Parka (band)
Parka is a three person German indie rock band. It consists of Martin "Fly“ Fliegenschmidt (guitar, singer), Gianni Dedola (bass), and Raphael Sbrzesny (drums). The group has played with these members since the end of 2006. Their first live performance with this lineup was in the beginning of 2007. History The three musicians from Köln, Neuss, and Stuttgart met each other in the late summer of 2006 at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg and formed the band. As early as 2007, shortly after the band formed, they won the German Rock and Pop Prize, the Deutscher Rock & Pop Musikverband's (German Rock & Pop Music Association) junior competition. SixNationState
SixNationState (also known as Six Nation State or 6NS) is an English indie rock band formed in 2004 in Southampton, England (although the band have since relocated to Reading, Berkshire to strengthen links with London's music scene). The band is known for their low-budget music videos, often starring fans of the band. Career Within the band's first year, they had performed 154 shows, played music festivals in Spain and supported Nine Black Alps and Babyshambles. The album charted at number 129 in the UK and failed to sell well upon its initial release, but its re-release saw it eventually go gold in the UK. Background The album was to be titled ''Santa Maria'', and by June 2000, newer material like "Chased By... The album charted at #143 in the UK and did not sell well upon its initial release. However, its re-release eventually went Gold in the UK. Background The band was listening to a diverse range of music at the time, with majority of it being American rock like Pixies, Soundgarden and Dinosaur Jr. Other acts included My Bloody Valentine and Super Furry Animals' first album '' Fuzzy Logic''.
