Jeena Chatrani
Jeena Chatrani is Barbadian painter. Her portrait of Barbados National Hero, Garfield Sobers is held in the collection of the Cricket Legends of Barbados and her paintings of sea turtles, including an exhibition of the paintings held at the Embassy of Argentina in Barbados, has raised funds for sea turtle conservation. Education Chatrani was educated at St Gabriel's Primary, Queen's College (Barbados), the Barbados Community College and the University of Toronto (Canada). She graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in Architectural Design and Fine Art History, and a minor in Visual Studies. Awards During 2008 to 2016, Chatrani has received several awards from the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) of Barbados. National Hero Of Barbados
The Order of National Heroes is the supreme honour within the national honours system of Barbados and was established by the Order of National Heroes Act 1998 by the Parliament of Barbados. Members are referred to as National Heroes, and are accorded the style "The Right Excellent" and the post-nominal letters "NH". The Order recognises the most prominent figures in Barbados' history. As of 2021, Garfield Sobers and Rihanna are the only two living persons conferred with the title. Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, (born 28 July 1936), also known as Sir Gary or Sir Garry Sobers, is a former cricketer who played for the West Indies between 1954 and 1974. A highly skilled bowler, an aggressive batsman and an excellent fielder, he is widely considered to be cricket's greatest ever all-rounder and one of the greatest cricketers of all time. Born in Bridgetown, Barbados, Sobers made his first-class debut for the Barbados cricket team at the age of 16 in 1953, and his Test debut for the West Indies the following year. Originally playing mainly as a bowler, he was soon promoted up the batting order. Against Pakistan in 1958, Sobers scored his maiden Test century, progressing to 365 not out and establishing a new record for the highest individual score in an innings. Leatherback Sea Turtle
The leatherback sea turtle (''Dermochelys coriacea''), sometimes called the lute turtle or leathery turtle or simply the luth, is the largest of all living turtles and the heaviest non-crocodilian reptile, reaching lengths of up to and weights of . It is the only living species in the genus ''Dermochelys'' and family Dermochelyidae. It can easily be differentiated from other modern sea turtles by its lack of a bony shell; instead, its carapace is covered by oily flesh and flexible, leather-like skin, for which it is named. Hawksbill Sea Turtle
The hawksbill sea turtle (''Eretmochelys imbricata'') is a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae. It is the only extant species in the genus ''Eretmochelys''. The species has a global distribution, that is largely limited to tropical and subtropical marine and estuary ecosystems. The hawksbill's appearance is similar to that of other marine turtles. Miss Universe Barbados is the national beauty pageant for selecting a delegate to represent Barbados at the Miss Universe pageant. The current titleholder is Hillary-Ann Williams of Bridgetown. History Miss Barbados Universe sent its first contestant to Miss Universe in 1976 and has sent 11 delegates between 1976 and 2005. They have never sent a delegate for more than 5 years in a row. After the death of the national director Andy Niles in 2006, Candi Nicholls, a former member of Niles' team, took over the franchise. Niles had been national director from 2003 to 2005.
