Jean Van De Velde (director)
Jean van de Velde (born 14 March 1957) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. He has directed twelve films since 1979. His film '' The Silent Army'' competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. He is the father of actor Yannick van de Velde. Bukavu
Bukavu is a city in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), lying at the extreme south-western edge of Lake Kivu, west of Cyangugu in Rwanda, and separated from it by the outlet of the Ruzizi River. It is the capital of the South Kivu province and as of 2012 it had an estimated population of 806,940. In 2021 it has an estimated urban population of 1,133,000. History Bukavu is part of the ancient territory of Bushi Kingdom, an ethnic group of South-Kivu. It was governed by a "Muluzi" Nyalukemba, when the first Arabs, then the European arrived in Bushi at the end of the 19th century. 'Muluzi' or 'Baluzi' in the plural means 'the nobleman' or 'nobility' to Shi. Before the Europeans came in Bushi Kingdom, Bukavu was called "Rusozi". ''Floris'' is a 2004 Dutch film, directed by Jean van de Velde and starring Michiel Huisman as grandson of the original Floris from the 1969 TV series. The new side-kick is "Pi", played by popstar Birgit Schuurman. In the film some of the 1969 footage with Rutger Hauer Rutger Oelsen Hauer (; 23 January 1944 – 19 July 2019) was a Dutch actor. ''Bram Fischer'' (also titled ''An Act of Defiance'') is a 2017 film about South African lawyer Bram Fischer who defended Nelson Mandela and his co-defendants at the Rivonia Trial of 1963–1964. The film was directed by Jean van de Velde and was featured in several film festivals. The role of Bram Fischer is played by Peter Paul Muller. The film premiered as the opening film of the Netherlands Film Festival on Wednesday 25 September 2013. The Kijkwijzer labelled it as for 16 years and above and also gave the warnings of violence, coarse language and discrimination. The miniseries was shown by VARA in February and March 2014. ''Wild Romance'' is a 2006 Dutch biopic about Dutch singer and artist Herman Brood. It follows the previous films depicting Brood, the 1979 feature film '' Cha Cha'' and the 1994 documentary ''Rock n Roll Junkie''. Named for Brood's backing band, the film received its premiere on the day that Brood would have turned 60 on November 5, 2006. The film deals with the early period of Brood's music career up to the period of success with the album '' Shpritsz'', and ''Shpritsz'' was to have been the title of the film.
