Jean Shafiroff
Jean Shafiroff is an American philanthropist, author, advocate, and socialite. Serving on multiple national and regional philanthropic boards, she is the ambassador and spokesperson for American Humane Feed the Hungry COVID-19 Program. She is the host of the television show "Successful Philanthropy" on LTV. Early life Shafiroff, ''née'' Jean Lutri, grew up on Long Island, New York. Her parents are Placido Lutri, former music chairman and director of district bands for the Levittown, Long Island, schools, and Rose Lutri, a painter and former textile designer. She graduated from Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in Hicksville, New York, in 1972. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, and an MBA from Columbia Business School. The New York Women's Foundation (NYWF) is a 501c3 charitable organization in New York City that works to bring economic security, end gender-based violence, and provide health access and reproductive justice to all women and girls. Solar 1
Solar 1 is New York City's only self-sustaining solar powered building. It houses educational facilities for Solar One, a non-profit organisation concerned with green energy, arts, and education. The Solar 1 building is located at the north end of Stuyvesant Cove Park, the city's only all-native plant park, which Solar 1 actively maintains. Situated on a brownfield site, Stuyvesant Cove Park offers opportunities for the local community to become involved in the park and learn about its special features. The Park has been designated a Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation for providing a quality habitat by virtue of its standards of conscientious planning, landscaping and sustainable gardening.
