Jean Nicolay
Jean Nicolay (27 December 1937 – 18 August 2014) was a Belgian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He earned the Belgian Golden Shoe in 1963 while at Standard Liège. He made 39 caps for the national team between 1959 and 1967, his debut being a 0–2 friendly defeat to Austria on 24 May 1959. Nicolay played between 1955 en 1969 with Standard Liège, where he won the Belgian Champsionship in 1958, 1961, 1963 and 1969, and the Belgian Cup in 1966 and 1967. In 1969 Nicolay transferred to Daring Club de Bruxelles. Later he also played at Royal Tilleur. After retiring from football, Nicolay was goalkeepers coach with Standard Liège, Mechelen, Metz, the Swiss national football team and the Belgium national football team. Liège
Liège ( , , ; wa, Lîdje ; nl, Luik ; german: Lüttich ) is a major city and municipality of Wallonia and the capital of the Belgian province of Liège. The city is situated in the valley of the Meuse, in the east of Belgium, not far from borders with the Netherlands (Maastricht is about to the north) and with Germany (Aachen is about north-east). Belgian Cup
The Belgian Cup (french: link=no, Coupe de Belgique; nl, Beker van België []; german: link=no, Belgischer Fußballpokal) is the main Single-elimination tournament, knockout association football, football competition in Belgium, run by the Belgian Football Association, Royal Belgian FA. The competition started in 1908 with provincial selections as the "Belgian Provinces Cup". Starting from 1912 only actual clubs were allowed to partake. As of 1964, the Belgian Cup has been organised annually. Since the 2015–16 edition, the Belgian Cup is called the Croky Cup, for sponsorship purposes. The final traditionally takes place at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels. The most successful cup club is Club Bruges with 11 Belgian cups in their possession. Belgium International Footballers
The Belgium national football team represents the country of Belgium in international association football. It is fielded by the Royal Belgian Football Association, the governing body of football in Belgium, and competes as a member of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), which encompasses the countries of Europe. As over 600 players have featured in the team since it started officially registering its players in 1904, only players with more than 20 official caps are included. Despite the first Belgium international game taking place on 1 May 1904, the first player to reach 25 caps for his country was Armand Swartenbroeks, who played his 25th match against England on 1 November 1923.
