Jean Meneses
Jean David Meneses Villarroel (born 16 March 1993) is a Chilean professional footballer who plays as a winger for Liga MX club Toluca and the Chile national team. Career In March 2018, he came to international attention for his blatant dive to win a late penalty, which was converted for a 2–1 victory against rivals Colo-Colo in the Chilean Primera División. On 1 August 2018, Meneses was loaned out to Club León for the rest of the season. In May 2019, it was confirmed, that Club León had redeemed the player and he would stay at the club. International He made his Chile national team debut on 10 September 2019 in a friendly against Honduras. He started the game and was substituted in the 64th minute. Quillota, Chile
Quillota is a city located in the Aconcagua River valley in central Chile's Valparaíso Region. It is the capital and largest city of Quillota Province, where many inhabitants live in the outlying farming areas of San Isidro, La Palma, Pocochay, and San Pedro. It is an important agricultural center, mainly because of the plantations of avocado and cherimoya (custard apple) trees. Quillota is connected to the city of La Calera by the small town of La Cruz. Estadio José Rico Pérez is a multi-purpose stadium in Alicante, Spain. It is currently used mostly for football matches, being home to Hércules CF. It also hosted World Cup matches when Spain organized the event in 1982. With a capacity of 29,500 seats, it is the 19th-largest stadium in Spain and the 3rd-largest in the Valencian Community. It was built in 1974, and is situated 2 miles outside Alicante city centre. The stadium is named after the former chairman of Hércules CF, José Rico Pérez (1918–2010). 2021 Leagues Cup
The 2021 Leagues Cup was the second edition of the Leagues Cup organized by Major League Soccer and the Mexican Football Federation. The tournament was originally planned to include sixteen teams but was later reduced to eight teams. The 2020 edition of the tournament was canceled in May 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in North America. In the final, León defeated Seattle Sounders FC 3–2 to win their first title. Qualification The top two Major League Soccer teams from each conference in the 2020 season who did not qualify for the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League qualified for the Leagues Cup. The Leagues Cup is an annual association football competition between clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX in North America. It debuted in July 2019 with four teams participating from each league. The first edition was a single-elimination tournament hosted in the United States with a final played in Las Vegas on September 18, 2019. Beginning in 2023, the tournament will be expanded to include all clubs from MLS and Liga MX, and will function as the regional cup for the North American zone within CONCACAF, with the top three teams qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League. 2020–21 Liga MX Season
The 2020–21 Liga MX season (known as the Liga BBVA MX for sponsorship reasons) was the 74th professional season of the top-flight football league in Mexico. The season was divided into two championships—the Torneo Guardianes 2020 and the Torneo Guardianes 2021—each in an identical format and each contested by the same eighteen teams. Both the Apertura 2020 and Clausura 2021 tournaments were renamed "Torneo Guardianes 2020" and "Torneo Guardianes 2021" (stylized as Guard1anes) to honor healthcare workers in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico. 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CONMEBOL)
The South American section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). A total of 4.5 slots (4 direct slots and 1 inter-confederation play-off slot) in the final tournament were available for CONMEBOL teams. The qualification process began on 8 October 2020 and ended on 29 March 2022. Uruguay's Luis Suárez scored the first goal of the round-robin.
