Jean Lamarche
Jean Lamarche (born 1972) is a Canadian politician. He currently serves as the mayor of Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Lamarche was elected as mayor in a by-election on May 5, 2019, winning 55% of the vote. He had been endorsed by the previous mayor, Yves Lévesque who resigned due to health reasons. Prior to being elected, he worked in the communications office for the Ministry of Transportation and was the president of FestiVoix, a local music festival. He has a social communications degree from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and worked for Radio-Canada Mauricie as a researcher and assistant director from 2006 to 2008. He is also the co-founder and former publisher of the ''La Galère'', a community newspaper. Circuit Trois-Rivières
The Circuit Trois-Rivières is a street circuit in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. The circuit has been the home of the annual Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, the longest-running street race in North America, since 1967. The circuit is located on the Terrain de l'Exposition (fairgrounds) and is unusual in that it passes through ''Porte Duplessis'', the narrow concrete gateway of the grounds at turn 3. Throughout its history the circuit has hosted numerous major North American racing series including the American Le Mans Series, the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, the Trans-Am Series, Can-Am, Indy Lights and Formula Atlantic. The Aigles de Trois-Rivières (English: ''Three Rivers Eagles'') were a Canadian Minor League Baseball team of the Eastern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds from 1971 to 1977. They were located in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and played their home games at Stade Municipal de Trois-Rivières. Colisée Vidéotron is a multi-purpose arena in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. Opened in September 2021, the arena replaced the aging Colisée de Trois-Rivières and seats 4,390 fans. Starting with the 2021-22 season, its main tenant is the Trois-Rivières Lions professional hockey team in the ECHL. History In the late 2010s, the city of Trois-Rivières, began construction on new arena to replace the Colisée de Trois-Rivières, a skating rink that first opened in 1938 and was primarily acting as the home of the UQTR Patriotes hockey teams. The new arena cost $60 million to construct with a planned opening of late 2020, but had no announced permanent tenants scheduled after UQTR declined the initial lease. Yves Lévesque (born 1957) is a Canadian politician, who served as Mayor of Trois-Rivières between 2001 and 2018. Career City Councillor Lévesque won his first electoral victory in 1994, when he became city councilor in Trois-Rivières-Ouest. He was re-elected in 1998. Mayor of Trois-Rivières In the wake of the province-wide municipal merging of 2001, he ran for Mayor of Trois-Rivières and won an upset victory against favourite candidate and Cap-de-la-Madeleine Mayor Alain Croteau.
