Jean Alfred Fraissinet
Heir to the Compagnie Fraissinet, Lieutenant (later Captain) Jean Alfred Fraissinet also served in the French Air Force during World War I, becoming a flying ace credited with eight aerial victories. Postwar, he took the helm of his family's shipping line in 1927. He founded two newspapers and bought another. He also bought the ''Château Saint-Maur'' and transformed it into a winery. The capstone of his career came in 1958, when he was elected to his nation's National Assembly as a member of the National Centre of Independents and Peasants. Aure, Ardennes
Aure () is a commune in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. Geography Aure is located some 55 km east of Reims and some 20 km south by south-west of Vouziers. The western border of the commune is the border between Ardennes and Marne departments. Access to the commune is by road D6 from Manre in the south-east which passes through the village and continues south-west, changing to the D20 in Marne, to Sommepy-Tahure. Sous Lieutenant Marcel Joseph Maurice Nogues was a World War I flying ace credited with thirteen aerial victories. He was an ace over enemy observation balloons, as well as enemy airplanes. Early life Marcel Joseph Maurice Nogues was born on 24 January 1895 in Paris. World War I service Nogues joined the artillery on 4 September 1914. After volunteering for pilot's training, he was detached from the artillery to aviation on 24 January 1916. He gained his Military Pilot's Brevet, No. 3486, on 20 May 1916. Domart-sur-la-Luce is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography The commune is situated on the D934 road, on the banks of the Luce, some southeast of Amiens. Fort De La Pompelle
The Fort de la Pompelle, also known as Fort Herbillon, is one of a number of forts built around Reims after 1870 as part of a fortification belt in the Séré de Rivières system. The forts saw combat during the First World War in the defense of Reims. The fort is located about north of the town of Sillery, next to the N44 road, between Reims and Châlons-en-Champagne. Constructed as a supporting position for larger forts and disarmed in 1913, it saw the heaviest fighting of the Reims forts. It was bombarded during the war and remains in a state of ruin.
