Jean-Pierre Kelche is a soldier of the French Armed Forces who served as Chief of the Defence Staff (France), Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces from 9 April 1998 until 30 October 2002. Jean-Pierre Kelche, an general of the army was born 19 January 1942 in Mâcon, France, his family are origin of Lorraine. They moved with both of his family to Saint-Cyr-l'École, Saint-Cyr in 1961 and later joined the Navy infantry. Henri Bentégeat (born 27 May 1946 in Talence, France) is a French Army general who served first as the Chief of the French Defence Staff between 2002 and 2006 and then as the chairman of the European Union Military Committee between 2006 and 2009. Biography Bentégeat graduated from the French military academy '' École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr'' in 1967 and opted for the ''Troupes de marine'' branch.
