Jean-Pierre Carniaux
Biography Carniaux studied Mathematics at the University of Paris, from which he graduated in 1972. He then studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received a B.A. in Art and Design (1974) and a Master of Architecture (1976). He joined Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA) in 1976. In 1986 he was in charge of opening the firm's office in New York City, which he led until 1990. He was Senior Partner at RBTA until 2020. Work Jean-Pierre Carniaux’s design work has included the design of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, National Theater of Catalonia, the Antigone, Montpellier, Antigone new district in Montpellier (240,000 m2), the Shiseido representative building in Ginza, Lazona Kawasaki Plaza, as well as the design of perfume bottles for Christian Dior. Christian Ernest Dior (; 21 January 1905 – 24 October 1957) was a French fashion designer, best known as the founder of one of the world's top fashion houses, Christian Dior SE, which is now owned by parent company LVMH. His fashion houses are known all around the world, specifically "on five continents in only a decade" (Sauer). He was the second child of a family of seven, born to Maurice Dior and Madeleine Martin, in the town of Granville. Dior's artistic skills led to his employment and design for various well-known fashion icons in attempts to preserve the fashion industry during World War II. Peter Hodgkinson (born 18 October 1940 in Worcester, England) is a British architect. His entire career since 1966 has been at Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, of which he was a senior partner until 2020. Within the collective structure of the ''Taller'' under Ricardo Bofill's continued leadership, he has been a leader in the design of many iconic buildings, such as Walden 7 in Sant Just Desvern and both terminals of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport. Antigone District
Antigone is a neighbourhood of Montpellier, France, east of the city centre. It is best known for its architectural design by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura. History and design The district is built on the grounds of the former Joffre Barracks, of which only Montpellier's citadel remains. In 1977, Mayor Georges Frêche started the process that led to the construction of the district. The district's architect was the Spaniard Ricardo Bofill and his Taller de Arquitectura. He designed a series of grand neo-classical structures, enlarging classical motifs such as pediments, entablatures and pilasters to gigantic scale. The district is located between the old centre of Montpellier and the river Lez. On the opposite side of the river is the ''Hôtel de la Région Languedoc-Roussillon'', another Bofill design.
