Jean-Paul Savoie
Jean-Paul Savoie (born February 9, 1947) is a social worker and former politician in New Brunswick, Canada, who represented Restigouche West in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Liberal Party of New Brunswick, Liberal member from 1987 to 1999. He was defeated by Benoit Cyr when he ran for reelection in 1999. He was born in Kedgwick, New Brunswick. In 1995, he was named Minister of State responsible for Regional Development Corporation and Northern Development. Savoie is currently mayor of Kedgwick, having been elected in 2001, 2004 and 2008. Restigouche West
Restigouche West (french: Restigouche-Ouest) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was used from 1974 through 2003, when it was split between the ridings of Restigouche-La-Vallée and Campbellton-Restigouche Centre. The riding was re-established in the 2013 electoral redistribution from parts of Dalhousie-Restigouche East, Restigouche-La-Vallée and Campbellton-Restigouche Centre and will be contested again beginning in the 2014 general election. This riding was created in the 1973 redistribution when New Brunswick moved to single member districts from Bloc voting. Prior to its creation, it had been part of the Restigouche County district which returned three members. The New Brunswick Liberal Association (french: Association libérale du Nouveau-Brunswick), more popularly known as the New Brunswick Liberal ''Party'' or Liberal Party of New Brunswick, is one of the two major provincial political parties in New Brunswick, Canada. The party descended from both the Confederation Party and the Anti-Confederation Party whose members split into left-wing and right-wing groups following the creation of Canada as a nation in 1867. The current political organization emerged in the 1880s to serve as an organization housing the supporters of Premier Andrew G. Kedgwick is a Canadian incorporated rural community in northern New Brunswick, Canada. On 1 January 2023, Kedgwick annexed a large area including the local service districts of St. Jean Baptiste – Menneval and White's Brook, with parts of two others. A variation of the original Micmac Madawamkedjwik, the name was "shortened by the river men to Tom Kedgwick or Kedgwick" (Ganong). Of uncertain meaning.
