Jean-Luc Addor
Jean-Luc Addor (born 22 April 1964) is a Swiss-Italian lawyer and politician of the Democratic Union of the Centre (UDC) elected to the National Council in 2015 from canton of Valais. He is known for his critical stance on Islam. In 2017, he voted to introduce stringent immigration laws for third generation immigrants especially those from Muslim backgrounds. He was convicted for racism and incitement to violence in 2017. He opposed gay marriage in 2021 referendum. Early life and education Jean-Luc Addor was born in 1964 Lausanne with roots to Savièse, in the canton of Valais, and Sainte-Croix, in the canton of Vaud. He holds Swiss and Italian citizenship. He studied for his law degree at the University of Lausanne where he finished in 1986 and was called to bar in 1991. National Council (Switzerland)
The National Council (german: Nationalrat; french: Conseil national; it, Consiglio nazionale; rm, Cussegl naziunal) is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, the upper house being the Council of States. With 200 seats, the National Council is the larger of the two houses. Adult citizens elect the council's members, who are called National Councillors, for four year terms. These members are apportioned to the Swiss cantons in proportion to their population. Both houses meet in the Federal Palace of Switzerland in Bern. A niqāb or niqaab (; ar, نِقاب ', "aceveil"), also called a ruband, ( fa, روبند) is a garment, usually black, that covers the face, worn by some Muslim women as a part of an interpretation of '' hijab'' (i.e. "modest dress").
