Jean-Frédéric Schall, also Frédéric-Jean, Challe or Chall (14 March 1752 – 24 March 1825) was a French painter who specialized in genre scenes and portraits. Biography IHe was born in Strasbourg. In 1772, after receiving his initial training at the "École publique de dessin de Strasbourg", he went to Paris. There, he was able to enroll at the École royale des élèves protégés under the sponsorship of Nicolas Guy Brenet, and entered the studios of Francesco Casanova; completing his studies in 1777. He had several patrons, including , Jean-Georges Wille and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne. The Directory (also called Directorate, ) was the governing five-member committee in the French First Republic from 2 November 1795 until 9 November 1799, when it was overthrown by Napoleon, Napoleon Bonaparte in the Coup of 18 Brumaire and replaced by the French Consulate, Consulate. Charles-Michel-Ange Challe (born in Paris on 13 February 1718; died 8 January 1778) was a painter, draftsman and French architect. Having studied with Boucher and Le Moyne, he was one of the most appreciated painters of his time and enjoyed a huge success across Europe. His architectural drawings in the style of Piranesi contributed to his appointment in 1764 as Draftsman of the Chamber and the Cabinet of the King, charge for which he would produce many ephemeral architectures for parties and great royal funerals. Jean-Baptiste Marie Huet (Paris, 15 October 1745 – Paris, 27 January 1811) was a French painter, engraver and designer associated with pastoral and genre scenes of animals in the Rococo manner, influenced by François Boucher. Born into a family of artists— his uncle was Christophe Huet, his father Nicolas Huet—he apprenticed with the animal painter Charles Dagomer, a member of the painters' guild, the ''Académie de Saint-Luc'', Paris, who was working in the 1760s. Antoine-François Callet
Antoine-François Callet (1741–1823), generally known as Antoine Callet, was a French painter of portraits and allegorical works, who acted as official portraitist to Louis XVI. He won the grand prix de Rome in 1764 with ''Cléobis et Biton conduisent le char de leur mère au temple de Junon'' (''Kleobis and Biton dragging their mother's cart to the temple of Juno'').
