Jean-Eugène Buland
Jean-Eugène Buland (26 October 1852 in Paris – 18 March 1926 in Charly-sur-Marne) was a French painter. Biography The son of an engraver, Buland entered the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts under the tutelage of Alexandre Cabanel. His earliest works were Symbolist paintings of antique scenes, but he quickly turned towards depicting scenes of everyday life. He used photographs in order to paint with realism. He received the Second Grand Prix de Rome two years in a row, in 1878 and 1879. His participation in the Salon led to several awards: an honorable mention in 1879, a third-place medal in 1884, followed by a second-place medal in 1887. At the World's Fair in Paris in 1889 he was honoured with a silver medal. He was inducted into the Legion of Honour in 1894. He profited from the commissions he received from major institutions such as the Musée du Luxembourg, and other museums in the provinces. Jean-Eugène Dezeimeris (20 November 1799, Villefranche-de-Lonchat – 16 February 1852, Paris) was a French librarian and historian of medicine. He studied medicine in Bordeaux and Paris. In 1819 he quit these studies in order to conduct research of medicine from a historical standpoint. After several years of research, he published his magnum opus, "''Dictionnaire historique de la médecine, ancienne et moderne''" (1828–). Eventually, he obtained his doctorate with the thesis "''Quelques réflexions sur l'histoire de la médecine''" (Some reflections on the history of medicine; 1832).Dictionnaire encyclopédique des sciences médicales, Volume 28

Jean-Eugène Fromageau (30 March 1822 - 16 October 1897) was a French architect active in French Algeria. He served as the ecclesiastical architect of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Algiers from 1855 to 1870. He designed several church buildings, including Notre Dame d'Afrique. Early life Jean-Eugène Fromageau was born in 1822 in Saumur, France. He studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts. Career Fromageau served as the ecclesiastial architect of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Algiers from 1855 to 1870. He remodelled the Ketchaoua Mosque into the Cathedral of St. Philippe. He also designed Notre Dame d'Afrique in the Neo Byzantine architectural style. Additionally, he designed a seminary in Kouba and another one in Saint-Eugène, two suburbs of Algiers. Upon his return to France, Fromageau designed the Roman Catholic church in Saint-Jouin-de-Milly.
