''The Jazz Boy'' (Swedish: ''Jazzgossen'') is a 1958 Swedish musical film directed by Hasse Ekman and starring Ekman, Maj-Britt Nilsson, Elof Ahrle and Georg Funkquist.Gustafsson p.118 The film was an attempt to make a nostalgical cavalcade of the Swedish entertainment scene of the 1920s and 1930s, and featured many songs from that era. The film's sets were designed by the art director P.A. Lundgren. Gösta Stevens
Gösta Stevens (1 February 1897 – 24 September 1964) was a Swedish screenwriter and film director. Biography Gösta Stevens began his career as a journalist, but soon began writing couplets for local revues. Stevens offered Karl-Ewert Christenson his services before a summer revue at Kristallsalongen in 1924. To this he wrote the couplet ''Kom som du ä''. Soon, Ernst Rolf took notice of the young writer and Steven wrote many numbers for him. He was also the author of many of Björn Hodell's and Kar de Mumma's revues. Stevens also wrote other lyrics. Among other things, he wrote the lyrics to ''Sommarnatt'' (with music by Mogens Schrader), often sung by Jussi Björling. He also wrote the lyrics to ''I have become much better now in the old days'', sung by Zarah Leander. Hasse Ekman (born Hans Gösta Ekman; 10September 191515February 2004) was a Swedish director, actor, writer and Film producer, producer for film director, film, Theatre director, stage and television director, television. Biography Hasse Ekman is probably Sweden's most successful and critically acclaimed film director from the period after Victor Sjöström, Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller, Stiller and prior to Ingmar Bergman, peaking between the mid-1940s and 1950. He was greatly influenced by filmmaker Orson Welles and also by episodic-films. Einar Fagstad (30 October 1899 in Lillehammer – 19 February 1961 in Göteborg) was a Norwegian–Swedish accordionist, vocalist, singer, actor and composer. Fagstad began playing accordion aged four. He trained as a painter and studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry (1916–1917). He was employed as an accompanist from 1923 by Ernst Rolf who produced a series of musical revues. Karl Gösta Prüzelius (11 August 1922 – 15 May 2000) was a Swedish actor. His first film part was in the 1945 film Flickorna i Småland. He played in films as diverse as ''Summer with Monika'', '' Space Invasion of Lapland'', ''Fanny and Alexander'', and Ingmar Bergman's film version of ''The Magic Flute'' (1975).
