Jayne Parsons (born 18 March 1962 in Lower Hutt) is a New Zealand paralympic cycle sport, cyclist who New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Paralympics along with tandem partner Annaliisa Farrell in the Cycling at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, Women's Time trial. Parsons has visual impairments. In 2011, Parsons was named as NEXT Woman of the Year awards, NEXT Woman of the Year in the Sport category. Lower Hutt
Lower Hutt ( mi, Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai) is a city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. Administered by the Hutt City Council, it is one of the four cities that constitute the Wellington metropolitan area. It is New Zealand's sixth most populous city, with a population of . The total area administered by the council is around the lower half of the Hutt Valley and along the eastern shores of Wellington Harbour, of which is urban. It is separated from the city of Wellington by the harbour, and from Upper Hutt by the Taita Gorge. Lower Hutt is unique among New Zealand cities, as the name of the council does not match the name of the city it governs. Para-cycling (or Paracycling) is the sport of cycling adapted for cyclists who have various disabilities. It is governed by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The sport consists of seven different events which include road and track races. The world's elite para-cyclists compete at Track and Road Worlds Championships (since 1994), the Commonwealth Games, the Paralympic Games and the World Cup (since 2010).
