Jay Wanamaker
Jay Wanamaker is a percussionist and the president and CEO of Roland Americas and formerly held executive positions at Fender and Guitar Center. He also worked for Yamaha, Alfred Publishing, and the University of Southern California, and was chair of the Percussive Arts Society rudimental committee that published the 40 PAS Drum rudiments. He has also published over 50 music books and instructional DVDs. Biography Jay Wanamaker was given a drum set by his uncle and by 4th grade was playing in a local drum corps in Utica, New York He earned his bachelor's of music education at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam in 1977 and went on to earn his Masters of Music at the University of Kansas in 1980. Roland Corporation
is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment, and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on 18 April 1972. ''Drumline'' is a 2002 American coming-of-age teen comedy-drama film directed by Charles Stone III. The screenplay, which was inspired by the Southwest Dekalb High School Drumline, was written by Tina Gordon Chism and Shawn Schepps. Marty Hurley
Marty Hurley was an American percussionist, teacher, composer, and Clinic (music), music clinician. He is best known for his work in the areas of marching percussion, rudimental drumming, Drum and bugle corps (modern), drum & bugle corps, and marching band. Instruction Since 1974, Marty had been the Director of school band, Bands at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hurley's bands have been consistent winners of sweepstakes awards at regional concert and marching competitions. During his time at Brother Martin, he has led 71 percussion students from his beginning percussion class to eventually become All State performers, and he received the Teacher of the Year award in 1999. Fred Sanford (musician)
Fred Sanford (1947–2000) was a percussionist, teacher, composer, and clinician. He is best known for his work in the areas of marching percussion, drum & bugle corps, and marching band. Raised in Casper, Wyoming, Fred followed his older brother Ken, also a drummer, into the Casper Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps at the age of 12 in 1959. He was a member of the Troopers for ten years until he aged out following his 21st birthday in 1968. Although he attended school at California State University in Fullerton and taught the newly organized Anaheim Kingsmen from 1965-1967, each summer he would return to teach and perform with his hometown corps. In 1968, Fred moved to northern California where he attended San Jose State and studied percussion with Tony Cirone.
