Jay Smith (basketball)
Jay Steven Smith (born June 21, 1961) is an American college basketball coach. He currently serves in an administrative role for the men's basketball team at the University of Michigan. He was a former head coach at Grand Valley State University (1996–97) and Central Michigan University (1997–2006). He has also been an assistant coach at the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit. Playing career , Smith still reigns as the all-time scorer in Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) basketball history, after a head-spinning 2,841-point career at Mio-Au Sable High School in Mio, Michigan. Of note, this was before the three-point shot. There is a road named after him in Mio, "Jay Smith Drive". In April 2019, Smith was named Michigan's "Retro Mr. Basketball 1979" by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM). Jay Alexander Smith (born 24 September 1981) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Playing career Smith started his professional football career with Aston Villa. After a season, he was transferred to Southend United. Signed in 2002 after a successful loan spell and turning down the advances of Hull City, Smith made his debut in August the same year and quickly became a regular in the Blues side. A horrendous spell of injuries, including a broken ankle, interrupted his career. Towards the end of the 2005–06 season, Smith was loaned out to Oxford United – and despite impressing manager Jim Smith during the run-in, it was not enough to save Oxford from dropping out of the football league. JayC Food Stores is an American supermarket chain based in Petersburg, Indiana. , the chain operates 64 stores in Southern Indiana. JayC has been a division of Kroger since 1999. History Early history JayC was founded in 1863 by Swiss immigrant John C. Groub, who with his wife Elizabeth opened the chain's first store on South Chestnut Street in the city of Seymour. The success of the business allowed them to move to larger premises in 1871 and add a wholesale department. Profits by 1885 had reached US$80,000. John C. Groub died in 1888, passing the management of the company to his son Theodore and his son-in-law William Masters, an experienced grocer. Jay Smith is the author of the single ''I Love You This Big'' sung by American Idol winner Scotty McCreery. Jay Smith was born in Galveston, Texas, September 1979, the ninth of 11 children. Early in his childhood, his family left Galveston and moved to what is known as one of Houston's roughest and toughest neighborhoods – the Fifth Ward. At the age of 14, Smith's mother died from a blood clot and fluid in her lungs, and three months later his father died from a heart attack. Sinch is an American alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. History The alternative rock quartet, Sinch formed in 1994 while its members were attending different high schools in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Doylestown and Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, Willow Grove. To the dismay of parents and the bemusement of friends, the members of Sinch made a pact that upon leaving school they would dedicate themselves to the band rather than pursue college or the military. Jay Jon Christopher Smith (born 29 April 1981 in Helsingborg, Sweden) is a Swedish singer and guitarist. He won the Swedish Idol 2010 title, beating Minnah Karlsson in the 10 December 2010 final in the Ericsson Globe theater. Jay Smith also plays in the band Von Benzo, which has released two studio albums. During Idol 2010, he created controversy announcing that he had smoked marijuana at one point during the program series.
