Jay Schwartz
Jay Schwartz (born 26 June 1965 in San Diego, California, US) is an American composer living in Europe. Early life His father was a professional boxer before becoming a swimming pool maintenance worker in San Diego. His mother was a housewife and later taught kindergarten. He started playing the piano and composing at an early age autodidactically. He studied music at Arizona State University, where he graduated in 1989, after which he studied musicology in Tübingen, Germany. Career From 1992 to 1995 he worked in the archives, at first as a manual labourer, then as archivist of the Staatstheater Stuttgart, Germany, where he then became assistant for incidental music. Villa Massimo, short for Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo ( it, Accademia Tedesca Roma Villa Massimo), is a German cultural institution in Rome, established in 1910 and located in the Villa Massimo. The fellowship of the German Academy in Rome is one of the most important awards granted to distinguished artists for study abroad. The award offers residencies of one year at Villa Massimo in Rome as well as three months at Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano to artists who have excelled in Germany and abroad, including architects, composers, writers and artists. The institution's founder was the patron and entrepreneur Eduard Arnhold, who in 1910 acquired the beautiful property of 36,000 m2, previously the suburban villa of the aristocratic Massimo family. Founded in East Germany in 1945, it is the only East German paper to achieve national prominence since reunification. It is published by Berliner Verlag. The Bayerische Staatsoper is a German opera company based in Munich. Its main venue is the Nationaltheater München, and its orchestra the Bayerische Staatsorchester. History The parent ensemble of the company was founded in 1653, under Electress consort Princess Henriette Adelaide of Savoy, when Giovanni Battista Maccioni's ''L'arpa festante'' was performed in the court theatre.
