Jay Richardson (politician)
Jay Richardson (born January 30, 1971) is an American politician who has been a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from the 78th district in Sebastian County since 2019. Political career On January 15, 2019, shortly after taking office, Richardson and fellow newcomer state representative Megan Godfrey (D-Springdale), responded to Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson's State of the State address by issuing a statement urging him to not to go through with his proposed 5.9% tax cuts and instead allocate more taxpayer money for highways and expanding pre-kindergarten education. Speaking for the state Democrats, Richardson also urged Hutchinson to support the Democrats proposal for the creation of a Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which the Democrats believe would go further to help working families. George McGill (Arkansas Politician)
George B. McGill is an American politician and a Democrat who has been serving as Mayor of Fort Smith, Arkansas since January 1, 2019. Prior to becoming mayor, McGill had been a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives representing District 78 since January 14, 2013. he served in this position until he was sworn in as Mayor, and was replaced by Jay Richardson. Megan Cardwell Godfrey (born December 5, 1983) is an American educator and politician who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from the 89th district from 2019 to 2023. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Early life Megan Cardwell was born to parents Cindy and Gary Cardwell on December 5, 1983. The family moved to Springdale, Arkansas when she was 14. After graduating from Springdale High School, Cardwell attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating with a major in Spanish and minor in Latin American studies. She was active in Associated Student Government and was named homecoming queen at the University of Arkansas in 2004.
