Jay Burton
Jay Burton (born 25 October 1972) is an Australian rules footballer. He played as a ruckman and began his football career at Subiaco. Football career Burton was drafted by with the 77th selection in the 1991 Australian Football League (AFL) draft. He didn't play a senior AFL game, playing instead for Richmond reserves and Oakleigh Football Club in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). He returned to Subiaco to play in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) in 1994. At the end of the year he was recruited to be an inaugural squad member of the Fremantle, along with his older brother, Matthew. He only played two games for Fremantle, both of which were when his brother was out of the team. He performed well for Subiaco, however, being selected to represent Western Australia in the interstate match against Queensland, and finishing equal ninth in the 1995 Sandover Medal. The 1992 AFL draft is the annual draft of talented players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League. The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. 1973 WANFL Season
The 1973 WANFL season was the 89th season of the Western Australian National Football League. It is most famous for Subiaco breaking the longest premiership drought in the history of the competition, winning for the first time since 1924 after having been a chopping block for most of the middle third of the century. Under the coaching of former champion Ross Smith, the Lions, as they became christened in July, bounced back from two disappointing seasons to lose only two of their final sixteen home-and-away games for their first minor premiership since 1935, then in a low-scoring Grand Final comfortably defeated a much more hardened West Perth team. Peter Ray Burton (4 April 1921 – 21 November 1989) was an English film and television actor. Early life Peter Ray Burton, was born in Bromley, Kent, to Frederick Ray Burton and Gladys Maude (née Frazer).
