Javier Subirats
Javier Subirats Hernández (born 2 October 1957) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a midfielder. Most of his career was closely associated with Valencia, as a player and director. Over the course of 11 seasons, he amassed La Liga totals of 250 games and 24 goals. Playing career Born in Paterna, Valencian Community, Subirats finished his youth career with local giants Valencia CF. He made his La Liga debut on 29 January 1978 in a 2–1 away win against Cádiz CF, and finished his first season with eight first-team appearances (seven as a substitute). For the 1978–79 campaign, Subirats was loaned to Girona FC in the Segunda División B, because he had to perform compulsory military service in the city. Paterna is a city and a municipality in the province of Valencia in the Valencian Community, Spain. The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Segunda División, commercially known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons, is the men's second professional association football division of the Spanish football league system. 1986–87 Segunda División
The 1986–87 Segunda División season saw 18 teams participate in the second flight Spanish league. It was the longest season ever in Spanish football. The league was reduced to 18 teams and had two phases. In the first one all 18 teams played each other twice (home and away). At the end of the first phase, the first twelve teams qualified for promotion groups (Group A1 for teams that finished in an odd position and Group A2 for teams that finished in an even position) and last six qualified for relegation group (Group B). In the second phase, teams played only against teams of the same group twice (home and away) and carried their first phase record. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). The 1980 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was a football match contested on 14 May 1980 between Valencia of Spain and Arsenal of England. The final was held at Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium. The 1979–80 season was the 20th season of the European Cup Winners' Cup, a football tournament organised by UEFA for the cup winners from each of its member associations. The competition was won by Spanish club Valencia, who beat Arsenal of England on penalties after a goalless final at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.
